Have y-pipe + Frankencar catback + intake? step in...
Have a (used) cattman y-pipe on the way, and just found out my muffler rear section pipe has rusted through. Already have a Frankencar b-pipe.
Anyhow, I'm debating on whether to get a used 5th gen OEM muffler or to order the FC muffler.
The OEM has the advantage of being lighter and quieter (especially with a y-pipe).
I like it to be fairly quiet, so I'm wondering if the FC muffler combined with a ypipe is pretty quiet. All the local guys with FC catbacks have no y-pipe....so never heard one in person...
thoughts......ONLY on intake + ypipe + frankencar catback...not interested in other catbacks/mufflers....

hey irish,
I like the stock rear section on the 5th gen... heres a link to the article that convinced me to stay stock on the rear and get aftermarket everything else..

yeah...I like the stock muffler too - except for the fact that it ISN'T stainless steel....I am happy with the stock muffler completely, except for the fact that it freaking rusts too easily (like most other OEM exhausts).
if a SS version of our stock muffler was made (perhaps with larger tips) I would buy it in a second!

I got budget Y, stillen I, and frankencar catback. Mine car has gotten louder since I got my catback installed. I wish it was little quieter but it's fairly quiet under normal driving condition. WOT is different story though. I cant hear my intake; instead, I hear my exhaust.
i have just the catback, and no, it doenst sound like a G or a Z. i think if you add the y-pipe to it, then the sound should be close. right now, my PR cai is louder than my exhaust, so FC is really quiet, unless you floor it. then youll hear it a lil bit, but my intake is still louder.
Injen Intake, Cattman Y Pipe......need help
I might sway away the topic, just bought and install the Cattman exhast (including b-pipe) and is really loud. My girlfriend is on the fritz about it and wants me to go back to the quiet exhast. Does anyone know if the Cattman b-pipe (that came with the exhast kit) will hook up to the stock exhast? Any replies will be great help. My girlfriend is really upset about this mod.....
yes, it will hook up. The cattman muffler is definitely louder than the frankencar (I am getting my FC muffler from Puppetmaster, who is buying a Cattman for more "sound")

... and not to mention the .00005 more hp I'll get with the less complicated internal design.... although I have to say that the Frankencar still looks the best.... I'm gonna miss her...
Damn, I was just about to buy a system this week, then I come and read this post about the frankencar. I have been debating whether to get the frankencar for a couple of weeks and then finally I said no. But now I want it. lol. Is it even worth it to get an exhaust on an auto?
