It's only a few more wires than just an alarm. The DEI Techsheet is helpful.

Not that hard to do. But if you've looked at DEI Techsoft sheets and can't understand them, I recommend going to a professional.
On a side note, I thought 4th gen max's have 2 starter wires? Also you have to go into the drivers door to connect the door lock wires.

I think that it's best to let the people who are trained to do that kind of stuff to do it. All the wiring and everything can get messy. And if they *** up your car..SUE SUE SUE!!!

If you do it yourself.....and you mess up your ignition system, you've got big problems...not to mention the fact that you can only beat youself up about it .

Let the professionals do it.

on the diagram shows from the12volts, it shows a trunk trigger of 12-. do i need a relay to trigger that from my viper alarm? how do i wire a relay to send a 12- signal? i think its a 12+ that comes out of the alarm when channel 3 is activated.

Most viper alarms are low current negative(-) pulse for channel 2(red/white) and require a relay for trunk pop. To hook up a relay w/ a (-) out of the brain, hook that wire up to 85. 86 goes to a constant 12 volt(+). 30 goes to ground and 87 goes to the the trunk pop wire(purple/yellow-in drivers kick).

Let pros do it

Had my viper RSX3.5 remote start installed at Hi-Fi Buys this last January. Guys did a great job; they installed a trunk-release solenoid, the system, and the immobilizer bypass module; no complaints, everything works seamlessly.

Make sure you get the immobilizer module if your car needs it, and be prepared to give up one of those $180 Nissan keys into your dashboard (bastards).

Worth $200 and your sanity for sure.

Whats the price of getting this thing installed. Who says its worth it to do yourself who says it isnt. Can i have input from people that have done it? I got a 5spd but the sensor to see if the clutch is in is already wired so it always thinks its down. So that wont be a problem i also never park it in gear, no hills to worry about. Need imput from people that have done it tho.

I've installed a lot of remote starts. If you are a newbie at it, then it might be a little intimidating. I can tell you that my first remote starts/ car alarms don't look as clean as they do after I've done about 100 of them.

in all honesty if you dont have ANY 12v knowledge just bring it in to a shop and let them install it. Least then youll have a warranty on the install and youwont have to worry if something happens down the line. I say this cause ive been installing now for about 6yrs and have done more remote starts than i can even think about.... for me to do a 4th gen would be no more than 2hours including disassembly and reassembly of the lower dash trim and would cost you $80 including relay(2nd starter) and materials. Just to give you a ball park figure for an install fee.

installing a remote start/alarm combo is easy to me. As long as you understand some simple logic and how to use a multimeter it shoudn't be difficult. It took me about 3-4 hours for my first and only time. The most difficult part is dealing with door lock wires whether going through the bcm or the door harness itself. I would also recomend getting a haynes manual to find out what's really going on. I am almost certain that one of those wires on 12volt wiring diagram are wrong, but its been a year since I installed mine so I forget which one was wrong. Triple check everything and install it once.

Since mine is a 5 speed its hard to find a shop willing to do it and give a warranty. $80 sounds like a good deal though

IT is tough i have a Viper XV791 on my Max man my cousin and i were hooking it up man it was a ***** to figure out what wire to hook up to the second starter wire. It would keep dying out. We finnally got it though. If you wanna learn to do it on your own then go ahead and do it. If you wanna spend like $150 on installation by a professional then that probably be your best bet.

Well i have taken my whole dash apart have put in like 10 headunits, 2 in mine hooked up speakers in multiple cars feel comfortable with 12v just dnt know where to start. The kit came with 2 lcd 2 way remotes, this little black box that it looks like everything plugs into, a bunch of cables with plugs on oneside and something that looks like a remote with a little attenna and a cable to plug into that black box and a speaker for the alarm. Like i just dont know wheres the best place to store all this stuff i know pretty well how to run wires through the car since i needed to do it for the speakers to the amp and amp to the battery. Got a haynes manual is like my best friend when it comes to car repairs. When i want to get to the ignition wires should i get to um from under the steering wheel or somewhere else? same with the doors do i do each individual door or is there a place where all the cables are?

In order to have the remote start we are going to need to install a second starter as well? I recently got my starter replaced and now after replacing my seals i realized how easy it is to get to.

There was also an old alarm system in the car all it did though was open and lock the doors with a remote and activate an alarm if the doors were locked will this make it easier or harder to install?

try looking or talking to peeps in the audio electronics forum, .. most of the time if its an aftermarket alarm you can just follow there wires and install yours in its place, but its a little tricker if you have factory alarm

so all that does really is just provide ground to the purple/yellow trunk trigger wire? thanks so much.

For the two starter wires I just connected them both together. My multimeter showed they were both getting voltage when key was in the start position and weren't when the key wasn't in the start position. You could throw a relay in there if you wanna go the extra step. I haven't had any issues and my starter still works. You do need both starter wires to have voltage to get the car to start. I tried disconnecting both of them and connected each one individually and the car wouldn't start, thus I came to the conclusion to short them. You should get all the wires at the steering wheel regards to the starting.

I have 5speed so as regrads to the clutch interlock switch I just shorted that out to and now I don't have to push the pedal to start the car manually

You'll have to also gain access to ecu for your remote start to read the tach signal. The ecu wires can be tapped from the ecu harness which is on the passenger side of it.

For the door locks it's easiest to access the wires you need on the drivers door. I believe they'll read 5V when nothing is happening and they're grounded when you want unlock or lock the doors.

I have 5sp and didn't have a problem installing my remote start. Like Supa and ny96 said, experience would probably help. During my de-briefing, I made notes on how to make the install cleaner, but as for now, my wires are hidden and everything works.
