Ignition timing/advance

Whats the typical max advance that our A32's see.

I recall seeing in the FSM that advance is typically up to 25

I did a datalog when I got my consult scanner the other week

Questions ......

My highest reading was Ignition Timing 46 @ 5563rpm ... this sounds way high or am I looking at the right figure .. is Advance the same as timing?

Does Closed/TPS mean i'm not WOT ?

that sounds about right under acceleration. I checked mine with my snap on scanner and it was very similar.

That sounds a little high. Ignition timing advance depends on RPM and throttle position more than anything else. The highest timing advance occurs at high RPM with little to no load i.e. closed throttle. Next time you datalog try to capture the timing advance at WOT only because as you back off the throttle the advance will go up.

3.5's typically experience more timing advance than 3.0's so if your numbers are similar, his numbers are too high for sure.

Makes sense. I was with no load also and this was at high rev. If I remember right mid 40's was about the peek timing I saw.

My timing is 17-19 under WOT with a 3.5. Stays the same except a bit of fluxuation when shifting.

Yea that's why they're so high. Highest is at high RPM with no load.
