I've seen the how-to on a 5th. gen but just wanted to see it on a 4th gen and if the fog light is assembled differently. ie. is it glued together just like our tail lights.

Yes, ours are glued together just like the 5th gen. $20 to search is golden fellas, here's a freebie on me!! http://home.comcast.net/~dinhdu/index.html
He has real hid bulbs and ballasts for his fogs but it will work very well with the stock h3 also. I'm looking at this as a future mod as well.

thanks for the link, but i think a lot of those steps may be unnecessary for people using regular H3 halogen bulbs. But one thing that's confusing is if we use the H3 capsules http://hidtech.com/images/02152.jpg then how will it stay put? Is it just a simple fit? and will it also fit the bulb shield? I'll order these soon and see what happens.

It is a press fit, you work the capsule into the socket carefully with a pair of needle nose. And yes he showed putting the bulb shield back on it. Get the regular h3 capsule for regular h3 bulbs.

You think it will be brighter using HID H3 than using Halogen H3?

And since it's a press fit, there's no need to open up the lens. Just stick the capsule through the hole... or am I wrong?

It would be brighter with hid because hid is just way brighter but I think the stock h3 would put out good light with that mod. Plus I can't see spending almost $300 on fog lights. If you do the mod you must open the housing. Meanbean showed 2 ways, in the oven, but if it doesn't come off with the oven method then you have to get to cutting. I think you have to drill a couple holes, then press fit/work in the capsule with a pair of needle nose.

You dont use h3 capsules, order 9006 capsules. They have the 3 prongs at the end of them. You drill the holes for the prongs, then install the capsules, and then bend the prongs back to hold the capsule in place.

The H3 capsule will not have a bracket installed. You can request one at the time of purchase from HIDTech but you will then have to find a method to keep the bracket attached to the capsule yourself. Do yourself a favor and do as rsly33 states and just get the 9006 capsules. Those will have the bracket already attached. As for just being able to "press" the capsule through the H3 bulb opening, that is not going to happen. You must open the foglight in order to fit the capsule in regardless if you use H3 or 9006 capsule size. As posted above, use my TUT for step by step instructions for this MOD.

Hey meanbean, I'm thinking about getting the 9006 capsules since they already come with the brackets installed. But I have a couple of questions:
1. Will the bulb shield stay put or should I use krazy glue to secure the shield.
2. Is it okay to touch the capsule with our oily fingers?
3. Will using a 9006 capsule on a regular H3 bulb have any negative effects due to the size difference?

Yes, if you follow my instructions for crushing the area around the shield as illustrated in my How-To.
2. Is it okay to touch the capsule with our oily fingers?
The oil left from your skin can cause hotspots to form which may burn out the bulbs or shorten their life span. This will not apply to the yellow capsule but it may cause cracking issue to come up. Play it safe and always remember to clean everything before reassembly.
3. Will using a 9006 capsule on a regular H3 bulb have any negative effects due to the size difference?
No, none what so ever. In fact, it is recommended to use 9006 since it will already have a bracket attached and will be able to accept the length of an HID bulb in case you upgrade in the future.

question... Just bought the 9006 capsules. Now what would happen if I do NOT insert the bulb shield? Will it be brighter? Will the output be all over the place?
