Reasons for weak idle....

My 96 5spd has been idling like shyte for a long time now and it's only getting worse. It actually stalled the other day when i was coming to a stop.

recently i've performed the following maintenence procedures on my car:

coolant flush/fresh coolant - car overheated
oil change
plugs

Any ideas?

It has bad idle only when I put the car in Neutral and let the rpms fall normally. or when I am slowing to a stop in gear and press the clutch right before I stop to put in Neutral.

I'll try the IACV but I regularly clean the tb anyway. Thanks.

Start with the cheap things...Clean IACV, TB with one can of Gumout T/B Cleaner $3.00 (NOT Carb cleaner)..take off the IACV and clean it really well...Change the Fuel filter ($12.00) because its a common maintance item anyway...All that can be had at Strauss Auto on Hamburg Turnpike..that should fix the problem

If you havent messed with the Manifold gasket recently, thats probably fine...and the injectors will effect idle but not really a dipping idle and recovering sometimes...sounds like an AIR problem

thnx Matty, wow you became alot more knowledgeable than the last time I actually searched this board ( 1yr). btw thats a compliment. I'm not bashing on how you used to be. Thanks again I know exactly where that Strauss is-pretty far down Hamburg but they do carry a wide range of parts.
