Engine making noise in 'on' position...

No, not while started! I was pulling an engine code, and you know how you put the key to the 'on' position... while i was doing this, i noticed a loud whining noise, and discovered its coming from underneath the battery or behind the driver side front wheel well! I've never noticed it before... It sounds like a fan or something. What's down there? Anyone notice it before?

As far as engine code, i got a 5-5 (normal). Probably cause i turned off the car when i first heard the noise. I will get the code when it comes back.

I always thought that noise was the fuel pump .....could be wrong tho. Only on for about a sec, then quiet again.

The fuel pump is in the rear, it could be the fuse clicking though? I used to hear it on my automatic, I really havent listened for it on this one.

I know the pump is in the rear, but he could think its from the front because the niose is from under the car...

bump. engine code is 5-5 unknown :| probably gonna have to take this one to the pros.

and the noise is definately coming from the front. i took out the airbox/intake assembly to listen, and it seems like its under the front intake piping...

Engine code 0505 means that the ECU has not detected any failures, i.e everything is working as expected.

The noise could be the idle air control valve....
