1/4 mile times for other cars

I came across this today.

http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html

1995 Chevrolet Corvette LT1 5.2 13.7
1996 Dodge Viper RT/10 5.0 13.2
1986 Ferrari Testarossa 5.3 13.4
1971 Ford Mustang (351ci V8 w/4spd) 5.8 13.8
1999 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 5.4 13.9
2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L V8 5.1 13.5
2000 Ford Saleen S281 Supercharged 5.1 13.8
2004 Honda S2000 5.8 14.2
1995 Lamborghini Diablo VT 4.7 13.2
1994 Mazda RX-7 5.3 14.0
1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5.4 13.5
2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII 5.1 13.5
1995 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 5.5 13.9
2002 Subaru Impreza WRX 5.7 14.4

It's really quite amazing how competitive a modded 5.5gen or 4th gen 3.5 is with the cars mentioned above, especially in the 1/4 mile. I hope to be in the mid 13's with my humble 4th gen 3.5 swap and that would beat quite a lot of cars on the list and keep up with all of them.

I want to be able to keep up with most of these on my everyday tires (DR's, probably). There is definately a lot more stuff to do left to make our cars faster N/A. Since we can't tune them with the Ultimate E-manage yet, I'm gonna change my final drive ratio for optimal gearing (I.e use all of 4th gear in the 1/4 mile) when I find the right differential.

I think you can pretty safely chop up to half a second off some of the times in there with a good driver behind the wheel (or in the case of the '71 stang, good tires haha).

It is kind of strange to see how powerful the cars of the 80's that we loved really are in today's standards, though. Lots of 13's and 14's.

I sold my 1987 Buick Regal Turbo last summer. Stock they had it at 13.9 in the quarter and 4.9 0-60. Pretty quick for it's time. Would eat lots of the old muscle cars of the late 60's and 70's for lunch. With a few mods the old Buick could easily run in the high 12's. Definately a lot faster than the 455 GTO I had back in the late 80's.

That is why I chose my Maxima as a daily driver. Good power and performance for sure without being a fussy pain in the butt to keep on the road.

I don't think so, they have no TQ to speak of and little power until 7000rpm. If you upshift at 6000rpm, it's 0-60 time is 13 seconds.

At Gateway International here in St. Louis every second car you see running down there is a Buick Grand National. With upgraded turbo's those cars can be very dangerous.. a lot of them do see 12s

^^ werd. i never really respected those cars when i first started heading to the tracks. but after seeing them put up fast times over and over again and talking to their owners about the modest amount of money they'd put into them, i really began thinking that it was a car that most people underestimate!

yeah.. but if you take into consideration the fact that if you drop about 1000-1500 bucks into a 3000GT 4-R4 or a 300zx twin turbo you can make it run 12s night and day. We mod our cars to get them to the same level as those cars come stock. Not knocking on our cars at all, don't get me wrong. I'd rather see a maxima running 13s then a Evo running 12s. I'll always be partial towards VR-4s, RX-7 turbos, and 300zx TTs though. The glory days of Jap supercars there. Soo much potential. Absolute sweetness

My point is that from 0-6000rpm it feels like a slow-@ss 4 banger. After 6 or 7000 rpm it starts coming to life. The RX-8 is the same way.

Yeah....it feels like a terrible slow @ss 4 banger, like one from the 70's and 80s until 6000rpm. I think it kinda sucks to have to rev it to 6-7000 rpm, just to keep up with traffic.

Screw the 3000GT VR-4. It's a boat at 3800lbs. With the driver, it's around 4000lbs. It is a very nice-looking car and AWD is cool.

I think we're returning to the glory days again, provided that gas prices return to sane levels. We have the 350z/G35, Mustang GT, and we'll have the skyline in a couple years.
