Best way to wire DVC 4ohm sub to 2channel amp

Hey ppl. I have a 2 channel Rockford Fosgate 501s amp. The amp specs are:
125 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
250 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
500 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms in bridged mode
stereo or bridged mono output
4-ohm stable in bridged mode
Tri-Way capable

I just blew the coils on a Infinity Reference 1230w.

I just bought an Audiobahn AW1206T. The RMS is 1100(so they say). It has dual 4ohm voice coils. My question is: What is the best and loudest way to run this sub to this amplifier? From what the manaul says, the amp is not 1ohm stable. I guess what I'm trying to say is how can I produce a 4 ohm load to this amp with both voice coils being active?

since the sub is dual 4, you can either wire it to 2 or 8 ohms, parallel and series wiring, respectively.

i'd return the sub and get a dual 2 version. then wire the coils into a series (to get 4 ohms), and bridge the amp to power it.

+1 to the above post. The only way to wire that would be one coil per channel, which kinda sucks.

yeah, or if you don't want to return the sub, get a RCA splitter and run one R to two Rs (or one L to two L) so that the coils will get the same signal.

run it at 4 ohm stereo (it's the only way, not much power though)

one voice coil to one channel (dvc, 2ch)

I'd get a different sub or amp.

ehh...if he ran it 4 ohm stereo...each coil might get different signals...instead of 1 clean one...

Thanks guys. This amp's manual says not to present a bridged signal that is lower than 4ohms....However I hooked up my friend's Sony's(2 12s) in parallel and presented a 2ohm load and it works fine. If it has been working fine for a couple days is it fine to keep it like that? Somebody told me to just throw in some lower amp fuses to be safe. How true is this?

Will it work, yes, is it a good idea, no. Your solution will take out the weaker of the two, subs or amp.

I have been running a Alpine type R DVC wired at 2 ohms off of a Fosgate 500a2 for 3 years now (in my Jeep). The amp will get very hot and go into thermal shutdown after about 3 songs if there is not a lot off cooling (ie, back seat donw over it). But if the seat is up, the amp will run for several hours before shutting down.
I know it is not recommended, but it works.
I also do the same with my PPI PC2600 and the same sub. It has a fan and has never shut down.
Best option is to exchange the sub or get an amp that is 2 ohm stable.

Oh look, a 6 year old thread.

Here's another site that has wiring configurations:
