warranty question (your opinion)

my muffler is disconnected (muffler pipe not connected to whatever pipe it connects to....the two pipes meet behind the rear passenger side wheel)

However, the car still drives fine....just a little noisey, so it hasnt been fixed yet. But after a month of driving this way, my SLIP,TCS, and ABS lights came on.

Whatever caused this (ABS problem) should be covered by extended warranty. Before i bring it in to get looked at/fixed, should i get the muffler fixed first?

My concern is that they will see the exhaust is exiting behind the wheel instead of at the back bumper, and say this is what caused my sensor (or whatever went bad) to malfunction. And that this would void it being covered under warranty.

You think i should fix the muffler before i et my ABS fixed, or it wont be a concern????

seems like the problems are clearly independent, but who know, maybe the heat from the exhaust on the brakes had somethin to do w/the abs, but thats highly unlikely. but dealers are asssholes so i would fix it before the dealer trip

thats what im sayin. I know their gonna see the exhaust issue and immediately blame that for the abs problem, my warped rotors, and for the rock in my windshield. "You warranty states we arent responsible for failures or defects caused by your failure to properly maintain your vehicle. If you want it fixed it will be $800"

I ran the muffler broke just like that for 4 months with no problem.

One a side note, I got the two pipes welded together. The rest of the mufller system was beautiful stianless. Only the two flanges where they meet is (was) crap steel. It cost me 100$ instead of 800 and it just as solid as ever.

the heat generated by exhaust at that point in the vehicle, and with that distance from the wheel is no where near the heat that the brakes generate.

at speed, theres cool air sweeping away the exhaust, and at idle its not hot enough.

probably got metal shavings all over it, yea?
