Not getting power from cigarette lighter outlet

Folks,

Checked the FAQ, but could not find anything. I am not getting any power from my 12V cigarette lighter outlet. It was working fine before. Is there a fuse or something I need to look at? Please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in Advance.

Have you made sure it is plugged in? Yes there is a fuse but if it were blown other things in the cab would not work to.

You shouldn't smoke in the Maxima! If you're concerned about a radar detector or something else, look into it, if not who cares?

My cigarette lighter has never worked.

Check fuses. Get a fuse checker and figure it out

Oh no! I don't smoke! I was using the outlet to charge my mobile and use the inverter for my laptop. One fine day, it stopped working. Mobile charger and the inverter is fine because it works fine in my other car.

I will probably nose around and see if there is something loose or if some fuse is blown. BTW, everything else in the cab works fine.

There should be a guide printed on the door that covers the fuses. if there aren't any blown, then twist the cig lighter to the left and pull gently. There is a wire harness that connects to it, and it possibly could have come undone.

Probably the fuse. It's in the fuse panel below the cruise control switch and I think it's the 5th one down from the top left.

I lost my lighter and got one from Autozone that probably draws more current, so I have to replace the fuse every month or so.

I have the same issue in my car, but the fuse is fine. Found out that the prongs where the fuse connects is kind of loose. Pressing on the fuse itself brings power back.

Thanks a lot everyone. It turned out to be pretty simple to fix. There is a sicker behind the cabin fuse panel cover which has all the details about which fuse is for what. There is one separately for the cigarette lighter. I think it is the 6th fuse from the top on the left most column. And yes, there was a spare 15A fuse available also.

Thanks!
