Should I just get rid of my CAI?

I know I'm beating this dead horse down, but the reason I'm asking is because I saw a dyno on Custom Max about the Injen CAI. O don't know if I should go with that kind of CAI or just forget about the idea all together. I don't care about how I sound, I want horses. I'm doing some work on my car right now so I can't do all I want immediately, but I figured I might as well ask. If it won't help my cause then hay, I know I can find someone who wants it and sell it for them.

I have an ebay CAI that i got for like 20 bucks or something and I like it. Better then stock IMO, and alot better then the pop-charger short ram intake i had before. Pretty loud at WOT, but i like it.

The only aftermarket intake I would use is one with the Apexi filter that doesn't have oil in it. The K&N cone filter does flow well and make a few more ponies than stock, but you can also kill your MAF or reduce the performance of it with the filter oil. In addition, the K&N doesn't filter crap. Take it off and hold it up to the sun, you will see pinholes of light coming through. Anything smaller than a grain of sand can pass through a K&N filter.

Some ebay stuff is good. Different car, but some people around here use a $20-30 ebay shock tower brace that does a good job for the price, along with a $50 ebay coilover kit that works pretty well - it just has springs in the rear that are annoyingly short.

CAIs though is pretty hit or miss, especially when the respected brands are a toss-up as to whether or not they're even worth it. If you're happy with it though, that's more than good enough.

Why would it cost more for a piece of pipe to fender, and a piece of crap filter that u can see through?... Its not like i used the filter i got with the intake, that filter was total crap. I used the Pop charger cone I had on before, except its now in the fender.

the CAI does NOT rob your low end power. If you're talking about ditching your injen style CAI, then yes, get rid of it. If you're talking about the PR style CAI, then I wouldn't get rid of it.

if thats the case, dont use the intake at all. And you'd have to be driving in some seriously deep puddles to have water come up the filter to hydrolock your motor
