Updated - Anyone know this car? JN1DA31D72T433739 - UPDATED

VIN: JN1DA31D72T433739

I found this one for sale locally and am floored about the price. It appears to be an 02 GLE (no moon roof or heated seats, cannot tell if it has the Blose stereo or side air bags either) Car has 36k miles according to the ad and is majestic blue with gray interior. ODO shots confirm the miles. Price is under $8k!

I ran the vin on Carfax and it shows 10 records but did not buy the carfax yet. I am thinking of calling the local deal and have them run the vin.

Anyone have suggestions or thoughts on this one? I think it is a former rental or something else like a business lease.

Thanks for your time!
Travis

Has to be a private seller right? No dealer would sell it for so little. Call Germain on Morse and ask for Jeff in service. He's a good guy. He'll help you out. (614) 418-4500

That's where I go for service and I only work with him.

ive never seen a GLE that didnt have a sunroof, but i guess it is possible. i would rule out the rental tho, usually they would opt for the cheapest version possible, the GXE with no frills. its very possible that it was a business lease or something of that nature, but 10 hits on the carfax thing seems like a lot. if you buy the report, does it tell you more?

I moved to Ia over a year ago and forgot to update the profile

Actually, I dealt with Jeff at Germain when in Cbus but that is a long distance call.

To respond to others: It has leather which confused the crap out of me looking at the other opts. I checked and according to car value sites (edmunds) the sunroof was optional on GLE along with heated seats. I thought they were standard. :attention

The best part is that the add says it has never been in an accident

The add was pulled since I posted this AM. Here is the text I have in a word doc:

"That is a very good car for a low price. Never been modified, never wrecked. This vehicle runs well, drives well, and is in great condition. No accidents or something incidents. Serious buyers only please."

gotta watch out for those something incidents, they will get you every time.

good think you caught this, carfax is a really great thing to have (til i have to sell my car after my small accident )

when i bought a 3000GT a few years ago, i was young and naive. i come to find out later the car had a new motor in it, and went from Michigan to VA, sold at auction in DC, and then ended up in NJ where i got it. ugh. never trust a seller, unfortunately.

People pull this crap all the time, my best friend is a dealer and is looking for a caddy, he found one that the guy said he was the only owner, and the car was problem free... He ran a carfax report, he is the fourth owner because the car has a service record six pages long and it is an 02.

I love carfax...

I love carfax too. I was tempted to consider it but that price was too good to be true. Quite a sharp looking car too. Lawyers to sue a private individual? I doubt it....

Then buy it and drive the **** outta it for a month or so....then request your full money back! You can surely get it since they failed to disclose pertinent information!

that's not how it works....whether he wrecked it or not it doesn't matter. If you ask him to check the records and he still signs that it has never been wrecked, he is liable and in court he would be required to refund your full purchase amount....yes it would be a hassle, i was just makin a little fun

well let me playu devil's advocate... for 8k it might be worth it depending on what you want to do with the car. do a thorough check on it in person, be thoroughly satisfied with it, and then go from there. if you just want to use it for commuting, and it passes all your stringent tests, then go for it. but if youre gonna use it for something else then stay away. salvage cars are still useful for something. plus you can knock the price down a lot lower.....

remember this is me being devils advocate. i wouldnt buy it

It was in an accident and then a fleet vehicle? That thing has 37,000 miles but the engine is probably ****ted on and the frame is damaged.

The car is gone or I would have at least looked it over. IF a repair is done good then I have no concern and save some serious jack.... but since it was unknow the I say stay away.

Good idea to stay away from those most of the time, their all over autotrader if you look- i found a 2002 BMW 330ci for $9,000- it booked at over 23 and the seller said it was a valid price and not a misprint
