I need new tires bad and are the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S really worth all that money? I just want to know before I make that big of a purchase. I ride on the Chicago highways everyday and I just want something reliable when I'm cruising at 80mph everyday.

Cheaper tire that is just as good is the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. I have a set and after 10K miles, they're as sticky as mile 1. They'll be good for at least another 10K more. As for how they perform, like I said, very sticky, wet or dry. Additionally, when they do "give," they do so very gradually and predictably. Great tire that I will be buying again when I need to replace them.

 

The first thing I did with my car was to get rid of the Craptenzas and got some new Michelin's. I love them, worth the extra $$

 

try the toyo proxes 4...heard it's half the price of michelins....and perform just as well...just ask irish44j who owns them

 

Certainly you must be able to get more than 20K out of these tires. If not, how could you possibly consider buying them again.

I just bought new tires and the OEM Goodyear Eagle RSAs lasted 61K and would have gone another 5K if we were headed into the spring/summer, rather than fall/winter.

You must continually drive your car like you stole it!

 

soft Z rated tires with a treadwear rating below 300 usually don't last longer than about 25k miles, even if you baby them. Those Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 have a treadwear rating of 280, with a AA Traction (best possible) and A temperature rating (also the best possible). In other words, it is going to stick like super glue, but wear out faster.

 

Yeah, I do. And $600+ for a set of tires every two years really doesn't bother me as long as they provide the level of performance that justifies the cost. I baby my car most of the time but if it's warmed up and I'm stopped, odds are good I'll be kissing redline.

 

Are Mastercraft avenger ZHPs good? I just bought some G35 coupe wheels so I am going to put these tires on. I just wanted to hear opinions about these tires.

 

I see. I'll stick to the Yokohama Avid H4S that I bought three weeks ago and make them last for at least 60K. That's all the performance I need.

I question how often and where people get to use the performance aspects of a tire like the F1 GS-D3 and how many tickets and accidents they get in the process.

All of those occured when I had my winter rubber on so the Eagles can't be blamed.

 

Winter shoes in August...? That is your fault!

 

Come to think of it, it was more like November 04 since I was getting ready for finals. So there was snow on the ground which validates the need for the winter shoes. It was in IA where it doesn't snow as badly as here in IL.
