tonight i had my car parked at my friends house, and when i went to leave to drive to another friends house to sleep over, my car was making this really bad noise/feeling. it was definately coming from my driver's side wheel area. it was a hard thudding/knocking noise and feeling and would go away as i accelerated and if i braked. it felt as if my rotor was suddenly very warped and the brakes were knocking or hitting it each rotation, or like the axle was knocking everytime it went around. it's raining out and really late so i couldn't stay out too long to check it out, but when i looked i didn't see anything out of the ordinary. i think i could feel some heat coming out from around the wheel after i got where i had to go. anyone have anly ideas? not sure if this could be a frozen caliper, which i doubt, or warped rotor, or axle/cv problem. any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Remove the wheel, look for any obvious signs such as the CV boot to see if there is any rips or if any greese spilling from it. Is it only happening around turns, or in a straight line too?

 

UPDATE:

turns out someone tried stealing my wheels, because my lug nuts on that wheel were hand loose! the only one that wasn't was the one with my wheel lock. bastards tried stealing my wheels then left when they couldn't and i could have died if i had driven on the highway. that problem is solved...

 

Damn...after all these years Konig Verdicts (or are they Tantrums?) still attract thieves.
