Value: SS vs. aluminized

It's time for me to change my entire stock exhaust.
My car has 140k miles it's I'm still breaking it in.

The setup should look like this:

Budget Y
Magnaflow (carsound) cat
Budget b w/resonator
Magnaflow muffler.

Now Qs:

1) Anybody has that and how do you feel about it (what do you think about it)?
2) Obviously, should I go with SS or aluminized on the budget parts (is it really worth it for a car with so many miles?

Thanx a lot for your help.

I would go SS for Chicago, your Max will easily hit 200K.

i agree that SS is worth the investment, however your entire exhaust setup may not be. unless your current cat is shot, it probably isn't worth changing it. same goes for the b-pipe. you will not see any gains (no more than 3-5 hp) with a mandrel or 2.5" b-pipe. you would be better off just with the y-pipe for gains and a muffler for the sound. unless you are FI, the rest is more or less just overkill.

but if you are just doing it to just get a fresh exhaust, then go for it. otherwise, maybe just save a few penies and get the 'essentials'. IMO

EDIT: i have a Budget SS Y and i love it! installed nicely and feels great and even sounds subtely throatier. i plan to get a muffler as mine is currently rusting and will be crap by the end of the winter.

I'de say go for it. I have everything you're getting except the muffler; mine is a flowmaster. It sounds great and there were noticable gains.

i got the same y and b as you want. I got the b pipe because mine was shot. Stainless is worth it for sure. A few bucks and you dont have to worry that much about rust. I have the stock cat and new stock muffler though. The aftermarket mufflers i tried had too much noise for me and i cant tell any difference in power between the mufflers.

I'm in the same situation you are. Almost 119k miles and every component of my exhaust is more or less shot except for my cat (looks to be almost brand new). I've already replaced the muffler with a 2002 Max one, and it has a nice enough tone. Then again, I didn't want my end result to be obnoxiously loud, either. I'm going with 2.25" piping and a resonator from Summit for the b-pipe. This should leave me with an overall nice sounding cat-back, but still keep it within my tolerance levels of noise. Not sure which y-pipe I'm going with yet, though.

thanks guys,
seems like it's SS.

86maxima96: Everything is SHOT - gone hehe... have to change asap.
I mean, I'm aware that the gains are not going to be much, but also never know what comes down the line - in terms of upgrades...
