I hear a lot about tranny flushes and synthetic tranny fluid and tranny coolers but I think this information I am getting is mostly on auto trannys. I have a 5sp and want to know: 1) Should I get a tranny flush before moving to synthetic fluid, and what should I expect to pay? Where should I go for this? 2) How much fluid will I need to buy for the flush and refilling? 3) Is a tranny cooler a good idea for a 5sp?
I may be way off base on my information but I am just trying to figure out the differences of these issues when it comes to a 5sp or auto. Please clear this up for me. Thanks.

ask the dealer,

I called about my 92 se and they sad no. I know that normally they only reccomend what came with the car but they sad the synthetic is ok for the engine and will RUIN THE TRANS. I'm not sure if he was only refferinge to my 92 se a4 trans or all of them. But alway's just call to see what they have to say even though they are f*@k face's

Many people who switch to a synthetic manual tranny fluid (redline is popular) are very happy. Smoother shifts, etc....

I would ask a dealer why a flush would be harmful, it would seem to me a flush at certain intervals would be a great idea.

Thanks for the help. I will call around and see what most people tell me is best and go from there.
