What offsets fit our cars?

I purchased a set of rota subzeros and tried putting them on. The lugs didnt go on all the way so im not sure if its the wrong offset or they require special lugs. The rotas are 5X114.3, +48 offset. Should i bother buying special lugs or just sell them?

Wheels that fit on a Maxima have to have a bolt pattern of 5 x 114.3 or 5 x 4.5 (in inches) with between a 35-40mm offset. For offsets greater than 40, spacers and longer lugs can be used to prevent the rim from rubbing on the suspension arms or inner wheel well with wide wheels.
