Where is the water pump on the vq35?

My car has been losing coolant and I think it might be the water pump. Unless it has a busted head gasket? Where is it on the 3.5 and does it have a weephole to check for leaks?

Anyother suggestions on why i lose coolant? It takes about a month for it to lose enought to be about a half inch below the "min" line.

Do you actually see the coolant on the floor after you drive your car? or are you talking about the resevoir (however it is spelled)

reservoir. I dont see any coolant, but over about 1000 miles it has lost about a 1/2 inch or more from the reservoir.

I was looking at the FSM for my car and see that water pump is chain driven, and doesnt show a weep hole (but didnt explicitly say there wasnt one). I know LT1 cars (chevy, pontiac) had cam driven water pumps and had weep holes. I really hope that if my WP poops it wont go into the oil... argh.

It's right in front of the engine, by the crank.

im pretty sure its "internal" behind the timing chain cover. right past where the hose connects to the thermostat

Most (if not ALL) water pumps are located internally... near the timing mechanism (chain on some, belt on others)... that's why when you change the timing belt, you change the water pump - no matter if it is bad or not... because you have to take apart the front of the engine to get to it.

Don't worry about the reservoir... it's called EVAPORATION and normal wear and tear.

coolant doesnt evaporate.

top it off, keep an eye on it. if it keeps dropping, do a pressure test.
