Opinions on Sylvania bulbs

I Currently I have the 9004 silverstars and stock fog bulbs in...and when the two are on together its bright as hell.....Im happy with them...but as some have said...they are no good in the rain. Now a friend of mine recently gave me 9004 Sylvania "cool blue" bulbs and some H3 silverstars. I was wondering if anyone has used either of them...on what your opinion is.

I think Cool Blues are just whiter than stock, but they probably do not give as much light output compared to stock.

Sylvania Xtravision bulbs throw the most usable light down on the road. I've yet to see a bulb that even comes close to it. Even the beam pattern from that bulb seems better then most.

Well if silverstars are at 4000k, cool blue are at 3700k and the xtravisions are just a stock replacement at 3200k...wouldnt that say that the silverstars are the best? I mean on a clear night...they are great...but my crappy walmart xenons were better then the silverstars in the rain. Thats why Im wondering about the cools blues. Has anybody tried them? or the silverstar fogs?
Thanks for your input so far guys.

The kelvin rating doesn't really deal with how much light output is given, it is a way to classify a color temperture. Like 3000k would not be a white/blue as a 4000k bulb. Just because a bulb is more white/blue, doesn't mean that it will give out more light output. HID's are another story.

Uh the beam pattern is not a function of the bulb. Your beam pattern will be determined by your headlight housing.

The bulbs focal point plays a huge role on the beam pattern.
Why do you think the beam becomes distorted when you change the bulb type from 9004 to 9007 or HID capsules for that matter?

I have the Xtravisions 9004 in now, and like stated above, they have excellent light output, even in the pouring rain. I have yellow bulbs in my fogs from autolumination.com, terrible light output, but look cool. I had the Silverstars in my fogs, they're bright white, but have a very short life span. I don't think mine lasted 6 mos. So no more Silverstars for me. I just ordered some Piaa Xtreme white plus in the 9004 bulb and will get the fog H3's to match. I hear the Piaa's are awesome, they last a long time and are bright. Is this true?

They are the best bulb for light output.

Different bulbs cause different patterns. Look at the difference between the 9004 bulb and the 9007 bulb, they are set up different and put done different beam patterns on the road.

for functionality stock > piaa/silverstar > blue xenon like hid ricer bulbs

you go with the piaa/silverstar option if you don't like the off white look of stock bulbs this option is very costly though either way

for silverstars the 9004 last for 150 hours and their H3's last 100 hours

I'm assuming the piaa and silverstars have the same output after reading countless reviews

I had a bookmarked link but the link doesn't work - the link showed an actual test of the stock blubs vs piaa blubs and the stocks were about 16% brighter than the piaa's. So you'll be paying either $70 more or $30 more for a 16% drop an output because of the wonderful tint.

If the Piaa's are not a better bulb than the Silverstars, then why are the Piaa's like double the money that the Silverstars are? I just paid $46. on ebay for a pair of 9004 Piaa Extreme White Plus bulbs. That was the cheapest I could find anywhere. The Xtravisions are bright, but not white. Oh well, I'll try them in when I get them and see how they perform. I am also going to get the Piaa H3 bulbs for the fogs, seeing that the $hitty Silverstar bulbs lasted like 6mos at $20. a pop!
