How do you know if you car has keyless entry?

There should be a flashing security light to the left of the steering column...

....and if I don't have that?

I have a security tab on that row of tabs, but I do not have a bliking light. Should I pull it out and make sure a harness is hooked to it?

I know the keyless was part of the comfort and convenience package (add-on for the GXEs) - I can't remember what else was part of that package. It might be in the stickies.

The fact that you have the security tab suggests you might already be wired and ready to go... o/wise I would have just expected a blank tab/filler in place of the security tab.

yeah I read that it was part of some package. If I recall that same package had power seats. I do not have power seats. I am guessing I am not wired for it. I guess I will just get an aftermarket alarm then. The reason i want to do this is because my key hole is jacked up,and the little cover thing stays open even when the key is not in it, so I am guessing it is going to be very fun to try and open when water gets in there and it freezes this winter.

First I'd like to say this is my first post, but I have been watching the site for awhile now. I only wish I would have found it sooner because it has a lot of great info. Second and more importanly I have been searching for a keyless entry control module for my trunk at local salvage yards and have not found anything. Does anyone know of a place where I can get one other than the Dealer, possibly someone has one for sale?
thanks in advance

You're in luck. Pearl96Max has a Group deal going on RIGHT NOW, for a remote start/keyless entry system. The price is righ ($69) and he's a reputable seller! Look for his thread in the GD forum.

That package included the electric trunk opener on the driver's side door versus I think a cable-operated opener with a lever next to the gas release. Not quite sure what else is included, though.

But if you have a security light, chances are you've got the keyless entry - I can't see them putting it there for cars that didn't have it.

Absolute proof? Pull the trunk liner out of the right inside of the trunk (antenna side), there'll be a security brain there.

You have to have an automatic transmission on the GXE in order to get this package. So if you don't have an auto or these other things, you don't have keyless entry.

Security and Convenience Package (S&C) -
* 8-way power driver's seat
* Remote keyless entry and vehicle security system
* Integrated HomeLink Transmitter (SE only)
* Power trunk release
* Illuminated visor vanity mirrors
* Variable intermittent wipers

The 99 maxima my sister owns has the blinking red security light and I saw the wiring harness in the passenger side rear quarter without the unit. Do i just have to buy the unit and plug and play or do I need anything else with it for the keyless entry system to work besides the remote?
