In 1984 I learned to drive in our family's 1976 Mustang 4 banger with a 4 speed stick, no AC, FM, 8 track or cassette. In 1985 it burst into flames while idling at the high school parking lot. Its been a long road to my Max!!!

Congrats on becoming a 6th gen owner.

Welcome to the org Iwanamax, guess you will have to change your handle now. Lets see.. Igottamax maybe?

Wow, 18, and a brand new 30K car, life is good!!

Thinking back.. first car for me was a 1990 cherry red Sentra, only had it for about 6 months though, Mom decided she didn't want to be a co-signer anymore, and had to give it back.

Anyway, A day in a MAX is a great day!!

I make my daughter do chores, help cook, clean, wash dishes, take out trash, vacuum, take care of her animals, talk to people with respect and ensure she does all her homework and 4 years in a row she has been an honor roll student. When she heads to college at 17 because she is almost a year advanced, I will buy here a new car also with a sense that in her young life she earned it. I love her and I want to do the things for her my family never did for me, doesn't make her spoiled, she is developing a great work ethic and she will have a better start in life. My road was definitely too hard...

Everything YOU want for them? or Evrything THEY want for themselves? I dont think its a good idea to give to your kids what YOU want for them, instead of what THEY want for themselves... even then, I dont think giving kids EVERYTHING THEY WANT is a good idea...just my 0.02...

My first car was a 1980 toyota corolla 1.8L, 4MT, in 1997. Ended in ashes after it filled the carburator and spark plugs with fuel and burned from inside out... pretty scary.

Regardless of the new car I buy my daughter (when she turns 18, definitely not 16), it will be built more for comfort and safety and not necessarily speed. We are all pretty much blue and white collar guys, why should all the rich spoiled kids have all the fun. Why should anyone feel bad about a kid getting something nice because we are all working class dudes and dudettes and than turn around and admire a Porsche, Ferrari, or Bentley driven by someone else’s kid named Hilton or Trump… F%uck them, I want my daughter to concentrate on her studies, vice her part time job working for a beater mobile that is a potential death trap because it is all she can afford. I consider it an investment in her future. Last, not everyone lives in a big city, in some places public transportation is non existent and I don’t want to be a chauffeur for all of my adult daughters movement. **** gets old pretty quick!

I too am (for the 2nd time) a new (to me) Maxima owner:

Bought my first Maxima on New Years Eve 1999 (a '98 base model Maxima with 16000 miles). My wife has always had a company car since college, but she just recently got a new job with a smaller company and she gets a car allowance but no car... So she got my '98 and I finally get to get an upgrade!

I decided I'd get another Maxima but get some of the creature comforts this time arround. On Monday I settled on a 2004 SE w 24000 miles.

6spd, pow moon, and some of the options (leather, heated front sts etc).

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but as a new member I can't start my own thread yet... I'm a little curious about what others have done for winter tires. (I live in Minnesota). These 18" low profiles will probably not be the best in snow, so I was considering picking up a set of 17" winter tires & rims.

I went to tiretrack.com and am considering the following:

Tires: 225/55SR17 Winterforce M+S
Rims: 17x7 Kazera KZ-U Silver Painted

They will come with the wheels mounted and balanced, and after shipping it was about $930

Anyone have any opinions or recommendations on winter tires for this car?
Thanks!

Hey guys, Im a new '06 max owner too! Got a quick question, are the rear speakers behind the backseats the subwoofers? Are they supposed to play audio or just give off bass? Thanks for the feedback!

'78 Datsun B210 was my first. $50 to tow it to my house and a used starter from the junkyard and it was running great. 150,000 miles on it when I sold it for $100 to a buddy. I heard last year that it was still alive and limping down the highway somewhere in N.Cal.

My how time flies and things change....
