PS belt change, cant get it off

I did the drive belt and then tried to get the PS belt off, loosened the pivot bolt on the back side of the thing and then wrenched on the tension adjuster till the thing actually bent.... needless to say the old belt is still on there and I ran out of ideas any thoughts please????

Had the same issue with my buddies I30. We cut the old belt off and walked the new belt on by turning the drive pully by hand. Worked like a charm!

What you should have done was, cut the old belt off then put the new one on the PS pulley and the other side would have slighlty gone on the crank pulley, then turn the crank using a ratchet and slippe it on the rest of the way.
Then you wouldnt have to readjust PS pump and totally readjust the tensioner.

***EDIT, i see I was a bit too sow with my post***

I was wrenching on my tensioner for about an hour when I did mine and I finally read in the directions that you need to get to the back of the PS pump and loosen a 14mm bolt up in there by the Y-pipe. AFter I did that, the PS pump lowered right down nice and the belt came off
