Something's realy wrong with my max

ok.. when it's cold outside and my max sits overnight or longer,
when i go to crank it, there is nothing but horrible grinding coming from the motor. Almost as if the oil has all set to the bottom.. the car wont crank unless i give it gas and then it grinds even worse for about 1-2 seconds...or as i guess untill the oil get's around in the engine.

anyone ever herd of something like this or has had this happen to them?
What could this be.. please help or my max will die very soon im sure...

my oil is level an i just had it changed not long ago. i think it's 10w30 or 35 oil.

like i said if my max sits for a day without running this happens...please help!

I think it's your starter about to go.

OK so i let my car sit overnight and went to crank it 30 mins ago and it started fine. one thing i noticed ( since starter was mentioned) was after it started on first try a little little grind (very quiet) came from the motor...
so maby it is the starter!
I re-checked oil level again and it is fine.
ok so i would much rather it be my starter than my motor..
how can i test my starter myself or will i have to see a shop? - Thanks -

Hey I have a 95 maxima with the same problem, expect when I start it cold the engine shakes and and the rpms struggle to get up and then drops to zero and it cuts off only way to start it is to pummp some gas into it.

I am dealing with this problem now I was told to check the air control valve and the temperature sensor ( I have a few senors broken in my car). I'm hoping its not the starter although I never changed it since I bought the car used 5 years ago.
