Front strut bar and rear sway bar worth it?

Just wondering if its worth 200 bucks to get a front strut bar and a rear sway bar even if I don't plan on lowering my car and Im going to keep the stock wheels too. Will I notice a difference with just the front struts. Thanks.

RSB will dramatically increase your car's handling capability and FSTB should increase its rigidity.

Do it. You WILL notice a difference.

That said, it's not like at $200 you're getting a bargain, unless we're talking Stillen RSB or a name-brand FSTB.

$200? I paid something like $25 for my front bar on ebay. The thing was dirt cheap. It works fine and looks good. Maybe you can find a better price than $200 for both. It sounds like I need a rear bar for Christmas.

yup, front strut bar shouldn't be much more than 25, and i'm pretty sure i've seen the rsb in the for sale section for a little over $100.

I think i've heard that the addco rsb is around 85 at local autoparts places. I could be wrong though, but I coulda sworn I saw someone say that on here once.

Just got my RSB installed over the weekend, and I must say, the back end is so firm that it swings out now on sharp corners, whereas before, I felt like I was going to be thrown off my seat. Definitely a useful mod for our boats!

If you're not lowering, then probably all the more reason to get em both. You will notice some marginal effects with the FSTB alone, but only at higher speeds when you hit bumps (like freeway expansion gaps) and when you take long, sweeping curves (like on exit and entry ramps). $200 for both is not an overestimate (usually its 25 for FSTB and around 160 for RSB, new), I bought mine together used off the .Org classifieds for $130 shipped. Look around for those good deals.

And because I know someone will ask, the RSBs are for years 95-03 so you can use one off a 5th Gen as well.

So who makes these subframe connectors? And when you mean that the car will feel more ridid, does that imply that you can make turns faster without roll?

No, it means there will be less chassis flex. You should have the same amount of body roll but your car will feel more solid through turns, since it isn't twisting and contorting as much.

And less chassis flex also allows the struts/springs or coilovers to do their job better, so if someone had stiffer springs, that would help reduce roll a little more than if they did not have SFCs but had a stiffer suspension, IMO.

definately worth it.

I just put a cattman RSB on my 99 and the difference is incredible. I have no other suspension mods. The car still has a really cush ride, but when I swing it into a corner, I don't feel lik I am driving a bowl of mashed potatos any more. Granted, w/o other mods, it won't be handling like you friendly neighbor hood BMW, but it is definatly worth the investment.

For the price, I think the RSB is the best singular mod you can do. It really improves on the (IMHO) weakest part of our cars. I noticed an instant difference. It almost felt as if the center of gravity on the car went from the roof to seat-level.

I paid $100 shipped for a used RSB on the org, and around $30 for a FSTB on ebay.

As far as RSBs are concerned, you guys would suggest investing in a more expensive bar than just getting some cheap thing off ebay, right? I generally find that ebay "brand name" car parts are inferior in quality.

when the quality ones (addco, progress) are so inexpensive, why get a potentially lower quality one?

True, but to date, not many people have had significant issues with eBay knock-off RSB quality. If money is an issue, and he can save 50-60 bucks on a RSB that has not been proven to be of poor quality, I say go for it.

I've got a Stillen FTSB but have heard that an RTSB doesn't do that much more for handling - is that wrong?

A bit off-topic but has anyone experienced oversteer with badly tuned stabiliser bars?

RSTB should be toward the bottom of your suspension mod list, as far as bang for the buck goes. After RSB, FSTB, springs and shocks, wheels...then RSTB. Just my $.02.

both are a must-have. also consider the subframes and the little-known lower-tie bar. it links the bottom of the front suspension to sharpen up turn it and improve handling.

Yes. The improvement on turns is very significant. You will not waste your money.
