Amplifier Recommendations for Atlas 15

I have an Atlas 15 in a ported 3.2 cubic foot box. I would like to know what amplifier you professionals would use to power the Atlas 15. I don't really want to spend a lot of money. What are my best choices under $300?

Thanks, Aaron

what amp do you have now? i would not give it much more than 400-450 watts rms.

a good amp (new) for under $300? That's kind of tough to do...

This is a decent amp that comes close to your range http://www.crutchfield.com/S-IGJjXm0...0&I=500MRDM605

Thanks for the replies. I have a Profile 310 watts RMS amp right now. Also, a Pioneer 2600 headunit. It doesn't seem to be throwing out as much power as I thought it would of. I'm hoping to get an idea of an amp then find it cheaper on eBay or possibly another source.

Will an Atlas 15 ever be as powerful as a Kicker Solobaric L5 with 400 watts going to it?

kicker=spl.
atlas=sq
port to 35hz for increased spl and give it 400-500 watts and you can get as loud as that kicker when it has the same power, but who cares? I assume you mean a 15" l5.

Oh very interesting. My boy's 12" Kicker L5 pound soooo much harder than mine. Sounds like mine isn't even on. He has 400Watts going to it. You actually feel it in your body when it plays. You can't fell my Atlas. It's just as clear sounding as mine.

How do I port to 35Hz?

adjust the tuning of the box, what is it tuned at now? what car is this kicker in? that sub is not as clear as your sub if the integrity of your install is good. sometimes people think a sub is louder when in reality they are just hearing distortion. there is a big tech article on xbl2 (what your sub has) in relation to distorion levels. also, wait until you get a new amp to see if the sub compares to the kicker.

also...have you tried messing with the coil configurations? sounds like you want more high end so change the qts with the small coil.

The Kicker is in a Maxima, the same year as mine. I will check out that Tech Article.

I don't know what it's tuned to right now. Sunny could give you a better answer. Although, I do have a wire connecting the gold terminals together.

I would like to talk to you on AIM sometime. I have been impressed by your wealth of knowledge.

Thanks, Aaron

Put your boys box in your car and see if that is any better, and also try your box in his car.
