turning radius is horrible

hard to flick signal for a lane change without having it go into full turn mode

other than that i'm happy

wide turns, shimmy, road noise (mostly due to bad roads not the car)

Hate? Hmmm... Nothing...

I wish I didn't have to pay for oil changes. But I can buy Nissan's Maintenance+Plus to take care of that.

That's not to say that this car is perfect. It does have little things that I would do differently, and probably will customize to suit my tastes. But that's a personal interest, and not indicitative of a fault in the car at all. I would add a little more bass, as it gets drown out when driving. And I would have the doors lock when I shift to drive. Doors unlock when I pull the handle. And the mirrors retract when I park.

I hate that I only have the Audio package, but I guess thats my mothers fault for buying it like that. I personally like lots of buttons and features.

What really gets me about this car is the little "design choices" that the Nissan guys made when they put the car together...

Things like making the fog lights ridiculously cumbersome to change, or the in-cabing filter requiring that you remove the glovebox door, etc. I hate having no option but to leave unused buttons if I upgrade the head unit, or the fact that doing so requires a new dash kit, since Nissan didn't use a simple single/double DIN design. I hate the fact that the trunk doesn't have torsion bars to open the lid automatically -- for no good reason really -- and you end up needing 3 or 4 hands when you go grocery shopping.

That's mostly the type of stuff that I dislike... things that just seem like common sense. Looks like the designers were more concerned with form rather than function...

I would find a smaller turning radius convenient.

But 'hate'? On my beloved Maxima? Un-uh.

You pretty much nailed it for me too!!!
(although I found the fogs tricky but not too bad to change)

Though hate is a strong word I dont like the orange LED's they use on the dash. I agree with the turning radius. A better non nav screen would help and sound deadening material to block out outside road noise.

Hmm...wheelspin at launch...electronic problems (seat, lumbar, cd player, now the abs)

I hate the fact the bumper to bumper warrenty leaves something to be desired when there are numerous cars with 4yr 60,000mi. 3/36 is the BARE minimum...for this I wont be a repeat nissan customer...infiniti perhaps, but not nissan again sorry.

Well... mine has a button next to one of the LATCH things that releases one of the seats. Then I reach into the trunk and release the other one...

I hate the turning radius and the control switch for the lights being out of order. I also wish that the auto headlights sensor had a delay to prevent the lights from coming on when going under a overpass. It would also be nice to be able to fold my mirrors in after I shut the car off considering I can let the windows up or down. Overall, minor complaints. I still love the car.

That button on the back panel releases both of mine from the inside, IDK maybe mine's broken. I just noticed the trunk straps the other day at Lowes and had a hell of a time getting them down that way.

As for the dislikes, I've said it before and I'll say it again, the orange-brown display is hard on the eyes. Other than that maybe the oil filter location.

There is a sensitivity setting for the lights that is done thru the control screen/nav screen. As NismoMax80 would say, READ THE OWNERS MANUAL.
For me there are a few things that I'd like to change but I wouldn't trade this Max in for any other car in its price range. With all the moding and abilities to change stuff I think the Max can be customed to cover just about all of our needs.

Yeah, I know about the sensitivity setting, which I have adjusted. I've read the owner's manual numerous times so I know the capabilities of my car.

I guess what really bugs me about the auto headlights is that the lights come on immediately when I start the car in my garage and then turn off when I back out. My experiences with other cars is there is enough delay to pull the car out before the lights come on. Of course I could switch the lights to the off position when I shut the car off, but that defeats the purpose of the "auto" feature. I remember some previous discussion that HIDs burn out faster if they come on and off in short intervals. If this is true, then a delay could definitely help avoid this.

Surprisingly to say no one talked about the tip tronics not being fully manual. Not being able to fully control the car in "manual" mode sucks.

My list of dislikes (I wouldn’t call them “hates”)
4x4 wheel gap!
Turning radius (Is there a smile for +25 because that’s about where we are now in this thread!!!)
Button location for heated steering wheel and vdc are impossible to see with out extreme body contortions.
No reverse indigo gauges

Um, that's why they sell 6 speed manuals. Our 5 speed gives you way more control than 4 speed autos.

My experiences with other cars is there is enough delay to pull the car out before the lights come on.
I can guarantee you some of those owners b!tch that their lights don't come on right away, having to sit there until they come on. I know I would. I turn the car on and go.

Your simple solution is to turn the lights to OFF after you power down. I agree the order should be OFF PARK AUTO ON... but I choose to work around it then complain. My HIDs never go on or off accidentally.

heated steering wheel stops working after some time
It doesn't stop working. There is a time interval that shuts it down so your wheel doesn't catch fire, or Nissan gets sued for causing minor burns.

the orange-brown display is hard on the eyes. Other than that maybe the oil filter location.
I like my screen much better than other simple displyas. you know you can adjust the brightness right?? You could have bought the NAVI.
I love the Oil filter location. much easier to access than other cars. Just have to be creative to keep the oil from spilling on the Arm.

The paint could chip less
I agree. but you know if you drove the speed limit, it won't chip like that. Nice if Nissan would have made it more durable, but rather cut cost on paint than the VQ.

the grill[e].
love it or hate it... but you have a plethora of upgrade choices.

Everyone always wants more features but not for more $$. otherwise, many would be driving an Infiniti, Lexus, Merc, BMW, Bently, etc.
I just know that if you find an auto with comparable or better features, you can Mod and upgrade your Max and STILL pay less.

iwanaMAx I'd like a link to your Galant thread. It would be interesting to compare those complaints to these.

I know that regardless of 35mph, 55mph, 70mph (still the limit many places around here), and up...if debris (large enough) is kicked up it WILL chip modern paints, not just Nissan's.

although that is true, ask lightonthehill: NO CHIPS. He doesn't tailgate or speed excessively (atleast anymore).

2 very close paint pro's (1 a well know Orger, other my cousin) state any paint specialist can tell how fast you drive just by the chips on your front's paint. So do you wanna tell them, or shall I, how stupid they are??

Allow me. That kind of generalized statement and boast is just as stupid as the speed limit statement. They cannot, repeat, cannot tell a driving style based on front end chipping...period. I defy them to differentiate between a car that does 100mph+ on open country roads (and gets minor belmishes, mostly bug guts) and one which does UNDER the limit in city driving behind trucks doing highway construction all day long. Get real...

I drive really fast, and my paint hasn't chipped at all. On the other hand, my friend's G35 looks like crap. Not sure what's up with that... I think where and what type of driving you do obviously plays a bigger part. If you do a lot of summer highway driving, you'll get a ton of bug splats but not a lot of chips. Conversely if you do a lot of winter highway driving and they salt/sand the roads, or you do a lot of crappy back-road driving, your paint will go to **** no matter how much you keep it under the speed limit.
