So i ordered a new transmission for my car (locking 5spd) to do the convert over so i would have vlsd. Well tilley informed me today that it is not a locking tranny. So after listening to my mom b***h about this car and that it has to be fixed by this sunday its not going to be b/c i need the vlsd tranny and that was not the part that i recieved. This sucks.

 

So Tilley is going to do the swap?

Is it your mom's car? Is she paying? Is she having to drive you around (while your car is out)? What's her rush?

 

yep tilley is doing the swap. shes just mad b/c she didnt want me to have the car in the first place. but she doesnt have to do anything at all and im paying for it. but i called the guy i got the tranny from and he took 150 off of the price so i got the tranny for 600 shipped so i think it will work out. and the axle ending up not being shipped out yet so i just cancled the order so i saved myself there.

yea everythings sorted out. I learned that if u dont get mad and start punching every wall in your house and call people to get things sorted out they can get sorted out and alot of times to your benefit especially when a business screws up.

well I might as well ask while I can ... since this is dealing with 5Spd swap and axles why not.

You said, "The axle wasn't shipped", "axle this", "axle that" ... this implies you ordered one axle. SOOOOOOOOOo .... does the automatic passenger axle fit in the Manual transmission?

I am guessing yes since the part list doesn't say anything about it
BUT if they are interchangable then why would they differentiate the 2 when ordering or searching.

 

no the one side for non-locking will fit a locking and visa versa.....so he only needed one....i think driver side.....

 

the same thing happened to me when i was doing a 5speed swap. I asked for a lsd and the guy at the yard said he is 100% sure it was. When it finally gets here i check to find it is not locking. They ended up coming to pick it up and refund everything back including shipping.

 

Next time get the code on the tranny, if you purchased on fleabay you could have got a full refund, "item not as described". Why take a $150 discount on a trans you don't want? Vlsd Is the way to go..it helps in the winter believe me.
