Painted "Maxima" emblems

Figured some of you with black maxima's would like to see how it looks. Couple of things, this was just more of a trail for me. Its flat black with NO clear coat. So i'm pretty positive that the paint will flake off.

Flat black looks pretty good. As long as you preped the emblems good then the paint should stick.

Did you take them off, paint them, and then put them back on, or did you just paint them on the trunk lid?

Removed the emblems, sanded them down, applied 2 coats of duplicolor graphite, and 2 coats of clearcoat. It's been 7 months and no flaking.

Looks pretty nice. How did you get the spacing back on there even? I would think grease pencil would work, but I need to clean the gunk out of where the letters were.

I had a total debaged trunk for the last year and a half. So the emblems were just sitting in a drawer. So i painted them and bought some 3m adhesive and got a piece of tap and lined it up with a level tool. From there i looked at the stock locations from online and then had an idea of where they were.

The emblems look good, but that burger is sitting way too high. I think it looks awkward like that, but if you adjusted the NIssan sign to be more in the stock location, it wouldlook good.

You won't believe this but I just eye'd everything and fortunately, everything came on nice and straight with even spacing. I was going to use a grease pencil but I couldn't find mine at the time.

Did mine a while back....just the instrument guage cluster bezel. I wish I had the chrome rings because I think they would stand out nicely and complement the graphite bezel.
