Hey Thai, FYI in some states you can get a ticket for having yellow headlights. I know this happened to a friend of mine in MA years ago.

Just out of curiousity, why would you want yellow headlights?

The Porsche was actually probably mimicking the Porsche GT racing cars, which actually had yellow headlights... not all yellow lights have to do with Lexus you know...

Sorry, getting sick of everyone saying "Lexus this" "Lexus that" just say you want yellow ******* lights. Lexus has very little to do with yellow lights, besides its IS300 which had yellow foglights and is actually really a Toyota...

GODDAMMIT ******** IGNORANCE ***** **** ****NUGGET

Just had to get that out of my system.

I'm gonna sound like a n00blet here, but I've been looking for these things for awhile and, would these work? Would they fit the H3 bulbs we have in our foglights?

Toyota achieves their yellow foglight look in their IS300's by using a regular halogen bulb, and a yellow projector. If you wanted to you could probably pick up a set of IS300 fogs for $60 on is300.net, and try to retrofit the projector in your headlight housing. If you have the cash, 3000k HID's would look cleaner than yellow halogen bulbs.

Toyota also put yellow foglights in the facelift of the GS300's.

you sorta missed the point there, which was that neither Lexus nor Toyota pioneered yellow fog lights, and they have been around, I believe, since before "Lexus" existed. I'm sick of hearing people call them "Lexus" foglights, because they have nothing to do with Lexus. Or Toyota. They are yellow ****ing foglights.

I never said they weren't sexy, it just gets on my nerves when people give credit... to someone/thing that doesn't deserve it. Now Altezza taillights, on the other hand, are alllll Lexus.

/Toyota.

They're not meant for H3 bulbs... they're meant for gauge backlighting. It's my guess that not only would these significantly diminish and disperse your light output, but possibly melt, and that's if they actually fit, which it doesn't look like they will, since they're meant for gauge backlighting. =(

Ehh...thought so. Why would they melt? (assuming they would be made for H3) If they're meant for a bulb, then they SHOULD be made to withstand heat. Oh well, actual yellow bulbs aren't much more than that.

My 1970 triumph GT6 has yellow (factory) fog lights....

IIRC Dr. Roy coined the "Lexus yellow" phrase to distinguish the yellow capsule mod from just using a "yellow" or "gold" bulb. BTW, the yellow film doesn't work nearly as well as the capsules (been there, done that)

but what do I know about yellow fogs anyways?

If i am not mistaken the IS300 is called the Toyota Atezza (or altezza, I forget which) in Japan. They did it because it was something that was starting to become popular, and they could cash in. (only my guess) let the begin

I think Toyata Altezza is correct.

and OP should look at the incredible comparison thread that irish and a few others made about yellow fogs. It's in the 5th gen forum. Yellow headlights are a , so if you want yellow anything, go for fogs.

The altezza tails were revolutionary at the time, its just the fact that rice companies could cash in on it that made them huge. Notice that toyota has used them on different cars since then, and even nissan sunk to it with the altima..... Honestly, i'd have loved the IS300 more if it had come with some red/clears....thats just me though

They would melt because they were meant for much lower wattage applications (not H3). If you can find 'em for H3, go for it.

The IS300 with a different engine (2 liter, 200hp screamer mated with a 6 speed) is the Toyota Altezza in Japan. Yes, this car "started" the whole Altezza rage, and they are rightly called "Altezzas." It was on par with the rest of the styling of the car, 6000K HIDs (I think..?) yellow fogs, 17" wheels, interior covered with drilled aluminum/chrome, chrome ball shift **** (even in the auto), 3" exhaust tip... IS300s do sound friggin' sweet though.

There is such a thing as yellow H3 bulb capsules that go over your stock halogen bulbs. They run about 40 bucks, and they look just like the "lexus yellow" that you see on the IS300. PM Panda_1 and ask him what website they're on, he should know. I used to have it saved to my favorites, but the website got deleted somehow.
