AT Tranny light flashing

Sorry if this is in the stickies, but I couldn't find it. My AT Transmission light flashes for more than 8 seconds when I start my car up. It runs fine, I don't feel an slippage or anything. The manual says if the light is flashing, there could be a tranny malfunction. Anyone else have experience with this? Does this mean there is something seriously wrong here? Other than that, my car runs great. No leaks, no excessive oil consumption or anything. Thanks for your feedback!

I was not aware that the TCM throws codes as well. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Update: I had this diagnosed. It turns out there is nothing wrong with the tranny itself, but may be a failing speedometer assembly which would be $492to replace. I think this may have gotten screwed up during my audio install because we had to take apart the gauge cluster to access the speed sensor wire for the navi. I'm just gonna live with it for now since there is nothing wrong with the tranny.
