Need help getting educated in spring/strut combos
Need help getting educated in spring/strut combos
Hey guys, i'm gauging interest in lowering the max for a better ride & handling, etc. I don't know what wheel spacers are, difference between coilovers and when do you need struts, etc., all that other stuff. Could any of you give me a quick crash course in lowering the max? My goal is for a better ride and handling, although lowering it to fill the gap would be
I have an '03 TE w/ the stock 17" TE wheels on there that I don't plan on swapping out anytime soon. I have a buddy that owns a wrecker service and a shop so hopefully he'd be able to help me install them.
Thanks y'all

-Progress are the lowest springs you can buy if ride & handling are your main concerns. Even Progress is considered too low by many people. Also get adjustable shocks in order to properly match the dumping force with you springs rates.
-Coilovers will give you better handling, you can lower your car as low as you want as long as control arms aren't in a 90 degree position. You can also adjust your ride height on most coilovers. Suspension travel is no longer an issue.
Drawbacks to coilovers: very firm ride and reliability problems with even the best coilovers.
-Wheel-spacers can theoratically increase your cornering speed but I have never seen anyone using wheel spacers for practical reasons, only for looks. They also put more stress on you suspension and increase unsprung weight.
