PAC AAI-NIS Question... RE: Sirius SAT
PAC AAI-NIS Question... RE: Sirius SAT
Not sure if anyone has installed a PAC AAI-NIS adapter in there 6 gen yet. If so, maybe you can lend me some wisdom. I have read through the threads on this site and wish that I had bought the OEM factory Sirius receiver. However, before finding this website I purchased a Sirius Starbase and had it installed in the lower storage area below the tape deck. The install looks great and I'm hoping to be able to keep it. Problem is, it sounds like total sh*t through the FM Modulator. I have read postings and article's about the PAC AAI-NIS adapter and was wondering if I can run RCA's from my Sirius receiving into the PAC adapter and get around the FM Modulator? To my knowledge my OEM stereo is not pre-wired into the truck for the SAT. It does however have a button on the stereo for SAT. If you think this is a viable solution and would increase sound quality please provide feedback. Thanks in advance.

Pac Nis-aai
I just installed the new version of the PAC model AAI-NIS2.
The sticker is located on the body side of the drivers door jam just below the latch catch. It is black.
You do not have to be prewired for this adapter to work.
I also have the premium audio Bose and am pre wired for SAT but have the non Bose head unit which I bought off Ebay because it came with bezels and controls and a display.
What I noticed is the non premium sound head unit has the same number of electrical connectors in it, one of which I believe is a Satellite input. The controls for it include a button which says SAT.
The neat thing about the AAI-NIS2 is you do not lose your satellite input. It gives you three auxiliary inputs. Two of which are RCA inputs and the third which is the SAT input.
I have been running my Creative Labs Xtra Zen Xtra 60G and the sound quality quality through the PAC is far superior to the that of the tape adaptor or fm modulators I have tried. I thought 6 discs was nice but what about 50+ Gigs mobile.
Why do these cars still come with tape decks?
Be patient and wait for a AAI-NIS2 Mine was cheaper than buying the AAI-NIS off Ebay.
I bought it from HP Distributing they were outof stock but called me a week later to say they were in.
Call Toby from HP Distributing to get on his waiting list @ (800) 375-2927
They treated me well.
Take it easy!

I have the original PAC-NIS adapter. It was easy to install, just plugs into the SAT input on the head unit. It gave me 2 RCA jacks. I ran an RCA -> mini headphone cable for my ipod. It uses the first two preset channels on the head unit (tuner A and tuner B), although you can still have stations programmed on those presets. Just press SAT button to get back to the PAC adapter.
I also have aftermarket Sirius receiver (Sportster) using PAC-NIS adapter. It sounds a lot better than the FM modulator but not as loud as CD or FM as it uses line in. I also installed in the cubby area near shifter. I also installed the antenna on the dash as I hated the look of the antenna outside the car.

The pac aai-nis2 is available now, and does work with you car as long as you have the SAT input in the back of your. You do not need pre-wiring to the trunk. It plugs into the back of your stereo. It has 2 inputs, so you can have your aftermarket Sat & an mp3/ipod player connected at the same time...you just have to toggle to Sat A or Sat B on your stereo controls.
If you have the factory sat, you can use that in addition to the other two inputs as well. The pac aai-nis2 also known as the peripheral pxni. Sound quality will be far superior to fm modulation, my iPod sounds like cd. All issues and tips can be found here:

Bulletin for: AAI-NIS2
# 1. Volume control not working on headunit.
Description: AAI-NIS2 with Rev. 1.04.15 may not allow user to adjust volume on the headunit.
This symtom so far happens in 2006 model Infiniti's and Nissan vehicles with PRESET ABC button and without factory Satellite installed. Prior years may be affected also in some vehicles.
Solution: If you are having problems with the volume control, please send the AAI-NIS2 and a copy of the receipt to us to get the firmware updated. You only need to send the interface and not the wire harness.
Please write on the outside of package: ATT: Techsupport - AAI-NIS2 Firmware update.
Please provide the following information: Name, Address, phone#, Vehicle make, model and year.
If you do not have any problems with the volume control, you may disregard this bulletin.

The AAI-NIS plugs into the satellite jack on the back of your radio and then you plug the satellite input into the jack that you just plugged in.
I believe the two aux inputs are accessed through selecting SAT in presets A&B and the Satellite is selected by selecting SAT in preset C.
I have a problem with the PAC AAI-NIS. Please lend me your wisdom. Everything sounds great and it was easy to install but how do I make the radio cooperate with the ipod? what im asking is how do you program the radio or the ipod to make song selections from the head unit or the steering wheel, but not pressing the ipod? it might be because i left the SAT plug unplugged but im not sure. Can you please help?
I'm also using PAC adapter w/ a Sirius receiver. The only glitch is selecting from presets A & C, but B is fine from the sterring wheel control. I only have a couple of radio presets so it doesn't bother me.

The sirius adapter works great and olny take an hour to install. THe sound is far better than the FM modulator and the tape deck thing produces awful sound. Do it right and install the plug. You will not be disappointed.
