I'm in the middle of changeing a water pump. A larger job than I had hoped.
I'm down to the crank pully, and the bolt wont budge.
My question is, does the pully bolt loosen to the left or does it loosen to the right?
I'm really affraid of breaking the head off.
Thanks for any input.
Stu from Quebec.

answer found-new link

To loosen is left, like normal. I found it is very, very tight.

I hope you were able to get the pulley off. Mine was a real pain in @SS! Of course, mine is an automatic... so guess what happened every time we tried to turn it?

You should probably change the timing belt too, if you have not already done so.

I cant belive its so tight!

I'm still trying to get the damm thing off. I'm affraid its going to snap. I might try to rent an electric impact wrench. I wasnt going to change the timing belt, (not much cash, 3 kids ya know) but every ons says it should be done at the same time. I guess while you have it torn apart you might as well.
thanks for your input Chad

timing belt

The timing belt should not be more than $35, I think that is what I paid for mine at checker. I would also suggest buying a repair manual.

Water pump on!

Thanks for all your help. I've got the pump on and I did change the timeing belt. found one for 40 bucks.
Now it seems I have a bad connection somewhere between the bat and the alt. Was OK before the water pump project.
Tested the output from the alt and it's only 5.5 volts.
gonna clean the contacts and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks again.
