.......Is there anything I need to know? I mean, other than how to put them on

I have all the tools to do it, even purchased a camber bolt kit for the job, but is there anything that I may need to run to autozone for? Ive heard talk of needing to replace bushings or bearings or something like that. Theyre the Tein SS coilovers if that makes a diff.

If you dont have one already, you will need a breaker bar for the two bolts on the bottom of the strut.

And it takes some patience... Expect sore legs unless you have access to a lift.

Edit: you have a torque wrench also right...

This may give some insight. The only big thing that had us stumped was the bump stop had to be cut in half for my coilovers.

Breaker bar is a long bar with a socket attachemet at one end. its used for great leverage, put more force into turning the bolts and more stability doing it. usually they are a foot long.

 

A really big wrench, something you can get a lot of leverage with to break them loose.

I can guarantee that you will not break them with a normal wrench, I know from experience.

 

What brand did you end up using there? Think it will be the same with the Tein?

 

They look like Cattman's.

 

Just wanted to make sure I had all I needed before starting. Its going to be a pain enough to begin with witout running around for extra crap.

Do you have; PB Blaster, extra hardware for the suspension, metric tools (ratchets and box wrenches), jack stands (at least two), LOW jack (my old jack did not fit under the car after the coilovers), mechanic gloves help, anti-sieze compound and a case of Beer (most important).

 

check check check....except the "PB blaster"? Sorry, Im a little off today. I already have to get a new battery for this needy b*tch...

 

PB blaster is just a spray that helps to get off the bolts. Spray it on, let it soak in for a bit then go at it. Any auto store should have it.

Thanks. Yes they are cattman coilovers, but the coilovers are not going to be drastically different. Thanks again Reese. If it wasnt for you we'd be scratching our heads on what to do at that point lol.

 

You can just get a pipe that's big enough to fit over your regular socket wrench. Thats what i did. it was like $4 at home depot
