Okay, mostly all of us here at the forum have heard about people using the mesh found at home depot (gutter mesh) and using it for a grill. If your not interested in this topic then you can exit now. But I pose a quesiton that no one has explained on the forum... =) (I searched and I couldn't find it, so If it was up at once, sorry for the re-question) Anyway, how do you take the front grill out of the housing in which it sits (The top grill with the Nissan Emblem)? No one has explained how to do this. I have a 97 Max SE and was wondering how to... If you can tell me thanks....!

Oh yeah, and I think if I put the mesh behind the black plastic instead of covering it, it will look good.

Not sure to take it off, but you would have to do more cutting on the mesh to make it fit behind. If you look closely, the grill is solid behind the emblem just in the middle.

removing grill

there are 2 screw-like platic rivets that pop out when you turn them w. a screw driver a certain ammount, thats how it was on my 95 anyway, then the rest is just snapped on. putting it behind might look funny, there will be a big black V-shaped area around the emblem, b/c the stock grill os solid there if you look close, you can see the plastic where the emblem sat through the mesh, that is why my emblem is still on there (well, wasnt when i took the pic in my sig b/c it had fallen off the day before whel washing my car) but if you've seen my old sig-pic it was on it there

metallic97gxe,
How did you actually take the grill off. You have a 97-99, which is the same as mine. What are the procedures for removing it...?

grill
on each side by the headlight...there are two little clips stick a flathead screwdriver in and twist to the side and push out and then it will pop out at the bottom....I attached my mesh from the back with tystraps on the bar in the center where the chrome is.

bumper
bolts to remove are in the fender well it is bolted to the bumper about 4 or 5,then the grill remove
the grill then there are about 2-3 bolts here you will find that there is styrofoam in the bumper cover hehe........then the bolts underneath the car in the front about
5...and you are set easier said than done once you do one side the other side will be a snap I did not have a manual I just did it...it took me about 2 hrs grill, mesh and
bumper removal and install....

Raise the hood. Locate two plastic fasteners in the upper corners of the grille. They look like black square slotted screw heads. Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver into the slot and turn CCW 1/8 turn to release the clip. Gently tug the grille upward and outward. Elapsed time, 30 seconds.

Installation is almost as easy. The two plastic fasteners stayed in the car. Use a small pair of pliers to squeeze the legs together, and remove them. Insert the square heads into the hole in the grille, working from the back of the grille. Turn 1/8 turn to click into place. Place the grille into the vehicle body, taking care to line up the locating pins near the lower edge of the grille. Gently push those two plastic fasteners into their respective mounting holes. Snap! The job is done. Elapsed time, 60 seconds.
