Blew front speakers!

I just blew my front speakers on my passenger side door and now need to replace them. I needed to know the size of the speakers, and if there are any tweeters located on the door as well?

I also wanted to know if there are any recommendations for the replacement type I should buy since I tend to play music pretty loud.

Thanks

OOOHHH NOOOOOO You have to sell the car now!

The speaker sizes are 6.5", or a 6.75" oversized. You will be able to see the tweeters if you have any. They are located either right near the door handle or on the A-Pillar.

For recommendations visit the Audio Forum.

I assume you don't have a Bose system, because you'd see the tweeter grilles right in front of the interior door handle.

I would go to crutchfield.com and read what they say fits. As for choice of speakers, it's kinda silly to get super fussy since your headunit and wiring will limit any fancy stuff you buy, and even though you can hear a difference from one brand to another, none really sound substantially better.

IMO, find a decent speaker from whatever brand you trust (I like Polk and Infinity) at around $60/pair. I like buying from the list of stuff on clearance at crutchfield since the price isn't bad and you get their installation instructions and goodies.

That guy on Audio called Pearl?? is very helpful. Sometimes too helpful to the point of recommending to tear everything out. But he can probably get you a good deal and fit perfectly.

pretty sure that the bose drivers don't run a standard 4 ohm configuration. Probably going to be a mess to get all the stuff to mesh together well. IMO id use this as an excuse to rip eveything out lol...

Since you have Bose, you can't insert normal speakers. You can run a normal headunit with Bose speakers by using a special adapter, but that doesn't help your situation. You can either replace the speakers with more Bose, repair the Bose speakers (it's probably just the amps in the speakers), or change it all out to a non-Bose setup.

In case you want to repair them, see here:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....highlight=bose

I'll also attempt to repair them for a *very* reasonable price. Or if you change it out I'll buy any blown Bose speakers from you. My repaired speakers sound as good as new, and the components inside should last much longer than original. So don't overlook that option.

If you do have Bose, look for a replacement speaker on eBay. They are well made and you should keep them, IMHO.

2 ohm speakers are easy to find, dual voicecoil types 4 // 4 = 2 ohms.
However:
If it is the speaker that's 'blown' I would have it repaired. Don't know about the US but in this here city there are half a dozen places that will re-cone a speaker for me cheaply enough. The foam surround is usually what goes first.
