yeah, the same thing happens to me too. but i also have other problems; my rpms raise when i turn on the ac/heater to the auto function, rpms raise when i turn the wheel, and the heat comes out to the floor when the heater is off. so yeah, my whole car's messed up after the accident. so sad..

^^ those are all normal, so i hope you are joking.

the brake booster is connected to the intake, so you are using up vacuum when you apply the brakes, its called vacuum assisted brakes! if you didnt have this you would need some strong legs to stop the car.

That's not as bad as your RPMs going down when you press on the accelerator. Happened to me once ... it was water that got sucked up into the air intake (drover over a huge puddle).

Yes I agree, sounds like a vacuum leak. Maybe the diaphragm of the brake booster has developed a leak. Happened to me once on another car, the booster would only leak when the brakes were applied. Took a while to diagnose that.

RPMs do go up when you turn wheel or put a load on alternator, because ps pump and alternator take their power from the engine... but my rpms do not drop when i hit the brakes (and if rpms do drop it's so low that the tach doesn't register it)...

...I still can't tell if you're joking or not, so...

All of these are normal. If you don't want air coming through your vents at all when you're driving, hit the recirc button.

shouldnt your RPMs go down when you slow down? lol

hitting the brakes slows you down.. thus your rpms go down

fake edit: all the things you guys were saying are normal.. A/C, turning wheel ect.

same things happens to me, Nothing unusual and your car is perfectly fine. I also have the issue of the idle going down when I'm sitting at the light with the brakes on.

not to hijack this thread, but recently, my cars RPM has been wandering. after going on the freeway, and stopping at a light, the needle drops to zero and the car dies, dummy lights come on.
RPM daily has been around 500, and when i step on the accelerator, the rpm goes up around 400 with a deep purr and starts moving again..
im new with max's so any help is needed

The only time my rpms dipped to stall was when I filled the car up at some billy bob gas station. Dealership said it's not the problem...I showed them..and my clothes..full of gasoline.
