Red/cleared my tailights, figured i'd stick some LED's in there

So I got bored of my gen 1 altezza's (which I liked btw to all you altezza haters) and i decided to do something with my stock tails. Red/clears definately had to be done cuz orange is and LED's was the only other mod i could think of. No PWM's on this setup; just voltage regulators and diodes to protect against reverse voltage or whatever. Yes wiring this **** was a MAJOR PITA and you should see all those loose wires in my trunk but that cleans up nicely with a bit of patience and a glue gun. Only kept the trunk lid lights as running lights cuz i think it looks better. SO here they are 108 superflux LED's later:

Before picture:

Running lights only (bright white light is my door light, ignore that):

And yes, red means BRAKE:

I might do anotehr set when i have time if i can think up some cool design worth doing. Tell me what y'all think.

LOL i hadnt noticed until hadman^^ pointed out that you can make out an "M" in the LED arrangement. Complete fluke but i like it.

The parking lights looks dimmer then your braking lights. Are they or just how the camera light specturms is? I really like those cause it is kind of agressive looks and similar to the G35 coupe. Good job on those.

W/ the brakes on, all 4 tails are the same brightness (they get the same voltage). I took those pics at an angle so i guess thats why the right hand side ones look brighter. Headlights on and no brakes, trunklid tails are on but dimmed. I'm starting to like these more and more and one of these nights i have to drive behind my car to see what it looks like on the road.

Stefan, LOL yea that was me. My sister works at the Rogers store right next door.

first make an array of leds.. use superfulx ones if you can... then setup a pulse width modulator (or a voltage regulator) to dim the leds when u turn on the headlights

click this link to get the correct resistor basted on the leds you are using

Did you use a PWM? I believe you can you this to adjust the amount of voltage or amps going to the LEDs in the end it makes them brighter or dimmer. There is no need to have them running at 100% duty cycle. I mean imagine if you had red light directed right at your face, intensely. Otherwise just use some higher resistors

Why aren't the LEDs arranged uniformly?

No, no PWM. While cool, i think it was overkill for this sort of project
the leds are rated at 70ma and I calculated resistor values for 60ma so they are not running at 100% duty cycle

It's amazing how bright those Superflux LED's are compared to all these other LED's people buy, Even the ones that are like 10000mcd and all that.
