Sticky antenna

I have a 1996 GLE and a 1997 GXE. The antennas do not like to go completely down. They like to get stuck in the second to largest piece of the antenna and stick out about 4 inches.

I tried the WD-40 trick on my 96. It worked until we had a light rain. Then the antenna returned to sticking up. It's real irritating.

Any suggestions? I've seen other Maximas with the same body style with the same problem.

WD-40 doesn't last long enough. Try some dry lithium grease or some other lubricant that doesn't dry up. Oil up the antenna, and have someone else operate the radio while you "assist" the antenna up and down.

I had that same problem, it WAS annoying. But if you lubricate the antenna enough, it should fix.
