question about aftermarket ebay hids?

Everyone knows that there are those aftermarket HID's that you can find on ebay for like 500-600 bucks. here is a link of them:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...47113461QQrdZ1

If i was to put these on my 01 would then leave that nasty gap betweeen the bumper and the bottom of the headlight. Ive seen these on 02 and that gap would bother the hell out of me.
Just wondering if the same thing would happen if i tried them on an 01.

thanks for the input

I think if you install those lights without the bottom clips they will fit flush. I think thats what some of the 2000-2001 guys with the 2k2-2k3 hids are doing

However, if you install them without the bottom clips they will shake right? On old ****ty cars its annoying enough having halogens shake, god forbid HID's.

Heres what I did, I just got a Philips G4 Slim ballast kit off of ebay and put them in my stock housing. They look great, just make sure you aim them a bit lower than stock height. If you really want to look nice for the price, get a pair of AE headlights and put HID in them...

No, the HID's fit perfectly flush on the '00-'01's. There is no gap if you use the '02-'03 clips. It's the halogens that leave the nasty gap if you were to install them on the '02-'03 bumpers. Check my hompage for pics.

DON'T DO IT......
I have one OEM HID and one ebay knockoff, and there are enough noticable differences to say don't buy one;
-the fitment is off due to the HID bulb cover being larger
-it uses different plugs that get in the way when you are trying to make it sit right on your bumper.
-the high beam bulb seating was just designed awful, you can barely connect the plug to the bulb.
-and the worst part is the actual HID bulb sits in the housing crooked, so the reflected beam is off.

Now maybe I just got a defect, but I must say, that after putting one New OEM HID and one New eBay HID on my 2k at the same time, I really wish i had bought two OEM.

So then if i got legit HID's and not ebay aftermarket HIDs' would that resolve the Gap issue, or is that gap just going to be there regardless if the HID's are Factory or Ebay?

I would do the AE mod to my headlights and put in HID's but i heard that the 01 housing doesnt give good output if you install HID's in them..( i could be wrong). if i could go the route of AE'ing my headlights and putting in a HID kit in them then i might go that route.

OEM's are always better than aftermarket. Again, the OEM HID's sit perfectly in the '00-'01 bumpers....NO GAP! I'm not sure about the aftermarket ones. They are not OEM's, that is why you get what you pay for. As far as the HID's retrofitted in the halogens, plenty of people did here on the Org. Ask around, I'm sure someone will help. But, IMHO, the '02-'03 HID's are far more the better route. You'll be glad once you have them. Good Luck!

Yeah I had the 2k2 HID's with my 2k bumper, and the fit was flush, both the OEM and the ebay, both without the underside clip (and there was not bouncing of the light.
And previously I had the 2k headlights fitted with HID's ( was a PITA always something going wrong, blown ballast, bulb fitment, grounding issues)

I'm not sure why you guys take out the clips. Mine fit perfectly with the '02-'03 clips. Here is an old pic before I cleared them....looks good though!

It's NOT plug and play. You have to completely rewire it with 02-03 harnesses.

he's right go to HIDplanet.com go onto their forums and learn how to create a relay wiring harness. There are some people who sell it online, but its not that hard to do, its jus a b!tch getting all the parts.
