illumina settings....

I've been talking with a few people and there seems to be some disagreement as to what the settings on tokico illuminas mean. Some say 1 is softest 5 is hardest. Others say 5 is soft and one is hardest. Since there is no info in the boxes which is true?

I am pretty sure that 1 is soft and 5 is hard. If mine were installed already I would just crank em up and down to find out! Your sig says you have them also, so why don't you just fiddle with them and find out?

It says it on the paperwork that came with them. 1=softest/5=stiffest.

/thread.

Because the back ones are not the easiest to get at

Small bag with paper = explaination of settings. Looks exactly like this
SOFT <-------------------> FIRM
...........*1**2**3**4**5*

yeah, it looks like mine are going to be permanently set to 4 in the back. By the way 1 is softest while 5 is the firmest. Says it right there on the documentation.

I typically leave the plastic clips for the lining off (at least the ones closest to the strut tower) so I can bend the lining back whenever I need to and use the smallest/shortest flathead screwdriver I can find to do the adjustment. Apart from having to climb into the trunk, its really not that hard to do. I change my settings every couple months or even depending on the type of driving I'm expecting to do a particular week/month.

No need to jack the car while doing so, right?

It shouldn't matter to you what people set it to. Play around with the settings to match your springs and your ride quality preference.

I change my settings periodically and typically use various combinations between 2-4. I have Illuminas with Progress springs.

what he said..... only way to find what is right for you is to experiment, I started at 3/3. I tried everything imaginable and I settled at 4/4. Just keep changing them up and find what ya like.

I'm gonna have to try that. I tried climbing in the trunk today, but my LArge hands werent helping with getting to the struts. Its pissing me off. I've turned the frints down to 1. so that gives me 1frint 4 back.. I havnt tested out this setting yet, but what are everyones take on having the setting so far apart? I usually see the setting only one click apart on others. Ex 1/2..2/3...3/4...4/3 and so on. Any opinions?

EDIT: Wouldnt you know.. its my 50th POST!!! Hurray for ME!..Thank you thank you.. no applause needed. (probably none given lol) back to subject at hand..

When I had 1F 4R, the front end felt floaty when doing spirited driving.

Right now I have 2F 4R, and it seems to work fine for me.

But as was stated many times in this very thread, play around with it and see what works for you.
