Coils Or Plugs????????maxima Fans....
#1
Please Read!!!
I know everyone is sick of hearing about coils and plugs but I have a couple questions with a problem I am having. I have an 01 Max with 82,000 on it and have owned it for about 10,000 miles. I am experiencing hard starts every five starts or so. (feels like starter might be going) I have the old style coils(no dot) and am going to change my plugs next week from parts from Dave B.(ngkplatinum) I have read Bigfatty's thread on how to test the coils with a voltmeter and am in the process of doing that this week.
Could these starts be my starter also???? I haven't read to many threads over this past year since I have owned the car where people are replacing their starters but I am thinking it might be a possibility. I allways put 93 octane in and probably should get a backup maf (cheapone for the 01 from Dave B.) just in case this might be the problem...
Any help would be appreciated....Thanks... React to me!!!!!!

coils shouldn't be a problem unless you are getting SES light. As far as changing the plugs, thats a given. I wouldn't change the starter unless it isn't turning over very good, and I'd check the battery before I changed the starter, you can have them check it out at autozone or almost any other parts store. I'm by far not a mechanic, but this is the way I'd go, good luck.
