Just wondering. I've been on the hunt for sometime for a nice 5.5 gen and some have the navigation. Is this option worth it? Search function is disabled since I don't have enough posts.

Is it worth it? No. It is an OK option but for the premium you pay, the multiple CDs that are required if you travel very much, and the fact that aftermarket Nav systems are available (and are better imo), you are better off installing it yourself if you want it. That said, it is a rarer option that not a lot of folks have. If you want something that is unique, then try to find one.

Good luck in your search and I hope that helps!

The climate controls are built into the Nav system. You can adjust most things using buttons on the side of the screen and other things you can adjust using the touch screen itself. It is a pretty unique setup and one of the things I actually like about the Nav system.

Yes, there is a cassette player below the Nav screen. It is tied into the 6-disc changer in the trunk and the usual wheel stereo controls.

And as a side note, the Nav system doubles as a CD player when you don't have a Nav disc in and have an audio disc in its place.

wow, that would be an expensive repair if your nav system fails. imagine not haveing radio controls, or especially climate controls. +1 for nissan job security with this design.

The radio controls are hooked up to the cassette player just like they are in the standard Bose system with the difference being the location of the changer (trunk vs. in dash). I honestly don't know if the audio controls would be effected were the Nav system to fail since it uses the speakers for its announcements ("right turn ahead," "make a legal u-turn if possible," "dear God, we're all going to die," etc.). Now the climate control issue is one that has gone through my mind on more than a few occassions! Thank goodness for extended warranties if it were to fail is all I can say!
