Something's wrong with my car.

Hey, it was my first time at the track, and the best I could do was a 15.1 at 91.51 mph. I also could not get past a 2.3xx 60'. My clutch was slipping, but i thought i could at least get into the 14's. i have a 1998 GLE fully loaded, converted to 5spd, y-pipe, no spare tire, no jack, ADR 17", 17lbs each, (did have a wooden board in the trunk, but i doubt that made any diff), on a slipping ACT stage 1 clutch. I took out my subs for the track run.

A friend from the .org showed up for his first time at the track as well, and his FIRST RUN was a 14.8 with a 2.3 60', and a slipping clutch.

Before my car went to the track, it started making a weird ticking noise.

I'm gonna track my car again, but I hope to get into the 14's. what do you reccommend, as far as mods, weight reduction? I'm only keeping the VQ30 for about one more month until i do the 3.5 swap.

Thanks,
-Freddy

How bad is the clutch slipping? That is the most important question. If it's slipping significantly then your run was botched from the beginning so your 1/4 mile doesn't necessesarily indicate a problem (besides the slipping clutch).

I didn't chirp any gear, and it was slipping pretty considerably.

I verified this, and it WASNT an ACT Stage 1, it was a Daikin OEM replacement clutch. (Key Value)

Your trap seems a tad low. I think your trap does confirm your time. what did your friend trap when he ran 14.8?

I also ran at EnglishTown, I ran a 14.75 @92.3 w/ a 2.37 60'. Don't you guys think my trap is low as well ? How could I run I think a good time with such a crappy 60' and trap? MODs: Y-pipe/Short Ram/Cat-back Sawblades.

tavarish is this your first run on the track, if so there are many factors that make your time. if you have run before and more than once then what were those numbers before if any? 15.1 isnt that bad considering a better take off could yield you a 14.9 which aint bad at all. i ran a 14.6 once and turned around and ran a 13.1 right behind it all because my first launch was horrible, but my mph remained the same 103-106mph. 92mph is just about right for your poer output. a 96 trap and up would put you in the 230hp range.

I must suck because all I could manage was 14.6 @ 98 in the 1/4 (that was without the nitrous only 00VI, intake, and y-pipe).

yea, it was my first run at the track. I guess i gotta get me some more mods (read: DECENT , non-TICKING ENGINE) so I can get a better slip next time I go. I know with 200whp, you can get into the 13's with a good driver.

That was right before I got the nitrous its all VI , n/a is 173hp 190tq but the afr was below 10. I have a VAFC program tuned for 13.2 but took it out for this dyno to see what my afr would be without it (for the nitrous later). So plan and simple I don't know what my hp is with my VAFC program.

if you're auto that's fine. Get a better 60' (easier said than done), and you'll see a better slip. Trap is a bit slow though.

that shows that you need more practice you said you ran before with 2.598 60 ft and you got lil bit better and ran 2.3 60ft. get that 60ft in 2.2 you be in 9's in 1/8 mile and you'll get around 15.5 in 1/4 mile

Wow, what a timeslip. this is hard to understand. i am curently run a consistant 14.75 at 93.9mph, with a 2.3 60'. how can we have a similar 60' similar 1/4 and you end at 98mph? did you miss a gear? The only mods i curently have is a stillen y-pipe and a short ram intake. And h*ll i think if i get my launch perfect i could see 14.5.

rev limit at 8k, and some weight reduction, but nothing seriously bad, i've been in his car, it had a full interior.

He also had a 00vi, and i doubt it makes any useable power at 8k rpms, so the rev limit that far up would be pretty much negligiblie, and valve float would be an issue.

i dont think that valve float would be that big of an issue and the 00vi makes probally worlds more power at 8k then the usim
