ohhhhhh yeah. the maf code is by the air filter, and if you click on the gray thing you can take it a loose. then it say the service engine. the part your talking about is the lil gray thing with the black hose coming from it with wires colored white and red.

to reset your ecu, all you gotta do is turn the thing down there.

and read the stickies for christ sake.

i'm guessing english is not your native language?

check if the hose that you "clicked" has not come loose. reset the ecu by using philips screw driver and turn the mode selector on your ecu. more details on the stickies on how to reset the ecu.

go to a auto store and they should read the codes for free, and give you alittle insight about what it might be.

well maybe i should rewrite it.

Well im having problems with my RPM it lies at 2 thousand it will not pass it. So I went to this website to post a topic about it but someone already posted a topic about it and stated that it could be the MAF, and stated were it could be located and I tried it and my check engine light came on when I started the car, and it will not go away. The part that I had taken a loose is aside the air filter, I thought that it may have something to do with my RPMS but I don't have a clue. Anybody knows what I did wrong.

That is caused by the MAF being disconnected, the MASS AIR FLOW sensor. It is nothing to do with the rubber hose, that's only a breather tube. The device is the small square plastic box with a connector that has wires coming out. And it is BLOODY EXPENSIVE so if you have trashed it, hard luck.

Back to the discussion..I had the same problem which your facing, the tactic I used to fix that problem was simple..I simply unscrewed the Engine Oil Cap and added a half of quartz of purified water into my engine..After I did that, I allowed my car to run for about 5 minutes, no rev no nothing..After that was done, i turned off my car, then turned it back on then the CEL light came off..You may be thinking, water in the engine? Isnt that dangerous!? Obviously it isn't since it fixed my problem..With that being said 97_Max..Follow those simple instructions so your Service Light can turn off..

That little gray thing with red/white wires coming from it is your mass air flow sensor... IF u disconnected it it will turn on your cel, and your car will run like shi*.. Oh and someone please explain to me by adding water to your engine it will cut off the cel light?? That's the worst advice i've ever heard..

(sigh) .. .. if it is connected properly, and the car still won't exceed 2000 rpm, then .. .. you would have to proceed to swapping it temporarily with a known good item and comparing results. If still bad, it would be an electrical connection problem, either the harness or the plug/socket connector.
If you intend doing your own maintenance you'd better start learning your way around a modern car's sensor systems, the MAF device is common to pretty much all modern petrol-engined vehicles (and diesels too, for all I know)

I thought this was a forum where you could get good advice and have your questions answered. Lately I've seen a lot of kids bagging on guys because they don't know as much as the guy with 500+ posts. This isn't "Yo Momma" or am I wrong?

I try to help out anyone, but when someone post multiple times giving dumb info about putting water in your engine it makes me mad.... Some kid would probaly be tempted to try it, b/c he read it here... I got ragged on a lot when i first posted, and was told "to get used to it" basically...

That was my concern, some kid with locash taking what he got here as the law and then messing up his car. I notice a vast majority of the guys here are 18 to 25 and do their own work. That used to be my philosophy until I had no choice but to find a mechanic when I owned a Saab and a Volvo.
