i would check the connections and when you give it gas, i would check the voltage to see if it drops.

1. check your idle, it may be too low when the A/C kicks in
2. the A/C system is a HUGE drain on your cars resources so it is normal to feel less power when it's going

probably a loose alt belt - or even a bad replacement alt. Do a battery test.

Before anyone messes with the wiring, go to your nearest hardware store and buy

a spray can of electrical contact cleaner should dissolve

disconnect battery

clean + and - terminals on battery and car

disconnect connectors at your alt and give them a good spray and clean

connect batt

take car to Autozone have them test batt and alt, and pull codes

check both belts for cracks and tension replace if necessary

good luck

Chances are your alty is slowly failing, causing the light to stay on...

If your have access to a multimeter, check the voltage when it is running..It should be around 14 to 14.5 volts at idle...

I drove my old (1st gen) max with a bad alternator for a while. The alternator charged fine, but the Voltage Regulator was failing. it finally did fail, during a snow storm when I was on the south side. talk about bad timing. Driving home on a battery with no lights, heat, or wipers with RWD in a storm
