Safc-ii Dyno Figures - What Do You Reckon?

Thursday morning right now here in Auckland - by this time tomorrow, I'll have had my new Apexi SAFC-II installed. When I dynoed last (August 2005) I had an air-fuel ratio of 11.3 and only got 140fwhp with a KS that wasn't working and a slipping transmission. I also only had a cat-back and intake at that time - have since installed Y-Pipe, Headers and High-Flow Resonator.

I'm going to post up my new dyno figures tomorrow - but anyone care to hazard a guess what the effect will be?

I would go back to stock intake.

sloppy...

But on the other end if you did not fix the screwed things, than 142fwhp.

Was this on a dynojet SAE corrected?

I didn't understand that last part NMex about being corrected...but the KS has been fixed as well as my transmission.

I got an NZ-performance muffler group called WOOLF Mufflers to make mine - Caesar has seen them and he says they're the spitting image of Cattman headers just like his.

Yeah - I was thinking about the mid-180bhp mark.

Cheers Guys.

Its a correction/standardization method used to compensate for different dyno conditions.

Thanks Puppet.

The Y-Pipe, Front Flexi-Joint, Headers & Install set me back $1,100.00NZD (roughyl $700USD) Zack, which I reckon is pretty good.

Might be nice as a next step...but I don't think so.

121.2kW or 162.4fwhp

It's not what I was hoping but the numbers don't lie. At least it's a damn sight better than the 104.4kW or 140fwhp I got last time I dynoed.

The dyno before and after the SAFC-II install didn't realise much more power (only about 7kW) but it's evened out the torque and power throughout the rpm range and removed the terrible drop in the low rpm power I had after the headers were put in. It doesn't feel that much faster but it looks cool.

Will drag test it in a few weeks to see what difference it makes.

Going to replace my rear muffler, cat-back and the 3 (yes 3!) resonators I'm currently running. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a leak or two sapping power there.

Upside is that the A/F is nice and even and sitting steady at around 12.8-12.9 and I can control it now. SWEET!

What were the conditions, was it on a Dynojet, and what was the correction factor?

I'll take a photo of it and get that info tonight NMex and post Tues. Having driven around on the weekend just been I can tell you that it was worth every penny. It pulls like it never has before and keeps going past 6k before chopping down and it never used to do that. Going up my normal 'post-mods' hill in town I topped out nearly 10kph faster where I normally lift off the gas. So I'm hoping I'll trap 7 or 8kph faster.

Something doesn't add up.. did they do an aggressive or conservative tune?

My A/F ratio seems to be the same as yours with no safc.. power is down like your first dyno run due to dead knocksensor.. i'm pick 120kw's approx with working knock sensor (now fixed)

That's sounds about right for you Killer - remember, you started out with 160kW stock and me 142kW so with your MEVI I should only be equalling you now. Damn - with the headers and full exhaust - you'll be 135kW easy.

It was a conservative tune btw Killer - they could have pushed my AF up into the mid to high 13's and pushed me up to maybe the mid to high 120kW mark but they opted for a safer mixture of 12.8-12.9 where they said there would no risk of running too lean when pushing hard and damaging the engine. Being an automatic they said that a high AF ratio (being leaner) the stock TCU/ECU doesn't like operating that high and sometimes can't compensate.

Sorry to overpost in my own thread but Killer - if you're running 120-odd kW at the wheels - then you must be losing a fair amount of power somewhere.

125kW divided by 160kW (You Stock) = 0.78125%

Which means I'd only be getting 110kW if I was as efficient.

My MEVI isn't activating due to me messing with the ECU wire that activates it... so I'd say my MEVI is in the closed position which I 'imagine' should give me the same power as the standard USDM (same as NZ)

I haven't redynoed since replacing knock sensor.. so offically still 109kw's.. but remember we were about the same power before your mods.

I'll fix my MEVI and we should have a Maxima dyno day @ Torque performance

Yeah man - that'll be great Matt. Just tell me when you're going and we can meet up and get things ready for the Showdown with the Toyotas...

Are there any fast FWD N/A Toyotas btw?
