First off I'd like to state that my bank sucks and they wouldn't clear my paycheck for 5 days leaving me with $3.82 in my bank account. I was getting low on gas and drove it as little as possible. Last night on the way home from work it sputtered once right as I got to my house.

This morning it stalled out on my way to the gas station. I got some gas and went back to the car and filled up about a half gallon. The car still won't start. I've heard about priming the fuel injectors but I'm not sure how to do it and I had to get to work anyway.

What do you think could be the problem and how do I fix it?

 

You need more gas in the car to build up the fuel pressure. Since you ran out of gas, you're fuel pressure is low...meaning not enough pressure to start the car. Try and see if you can borrow some money off someone and fill up that gas tank.

 

here is what I noticed... If you get in and turn the key to 4 right away then it doesn't prime. Try turning the key to 3, wait 10 seconds and then turn the key to 4. If it doesn't work then turn the key to 3, wait 10 seconds, turn back to 0. Turn to 3 and wait 10 seconds again and then turn to 4 and it should start.

 

Yes, turn it to ACC and let the beeping stop...

 

you need to fill up to build fuel pressure, otherwise it won't work, if you can afford NOT to use your car till u fill up (get a ride, walk, bike) do so, cuz you could seriously damage your fuel pump by running it gallon to gallon.

 

I have ran my tank almost dry a lot of times. If you want fuel pressure you got to prime it with the ACC and that's all. Even with .4 gallons the car will start.

 

thanks for the help guys. By the time AAA got there the battery needed to be jumped and it started right away. I think letting it sit let the fuel pump repressurize. Anyways, this thread can die since my problem is fixed. Thanks to all who responded.
