Cruise control doesn't work after the 5spd swap

Anyone have any idea why my cruise control doesn't work (light doesn't turn on) after the 5spd swap and how to fix it?

i don't think 5spd's have cruise control. how would that work anyway?

the ECU controls shifts when in cruise mode, and your driving a car that is dependent on the driver to shift.

doesnt work.

My car is a 5spd and has cruise, my old Sentras had cruise and where 5spds...

Ty I think you need to look over the FSM section of the CControl to see what might be missing from the sytem, compare 5spd to auto.

if done right the ccontrol should work.. i swapped from auto to 5spd and the ccontrol works for me... I'm still using the auto ECU as well.. but will switch to the 5spd ecu when i'm not lazy..

this might help.. it's from the vqpower 5spd swap tutorial..

In step 1.5, it says to connect two wires on the tranny harness. You instead, need to run a wire from both of the tranny wires, to the clutch pedal switch (small switch that is engaged when you push the clutch all the way down). This will let your car know when it is "Neutral (since it thinks it is an automatic)".. your reason for doing this, is so that 1. You cant start the car without the clutch (safety)... and #2, SO CRUISE CONTROL WILL WORK.

Instead of focusing on the swap, look to the Vehicle speed sensor, and see if that's still working. CEL's? The VSS CEL code should be 01-04 by the flash method. There's a test in the FSM or Haynes with a multimeter to determine if that's working or not. Did your cruise EVER work? (After the swap I mean)

VSS is fine. I didn't run the wires to the clutch switch though...does it matter which goes to which? And no, the cruise never worked after the swap...I'm also still running w/ the auto ECU and getting auto xmission codes.

Ran two wires from the P/N switch to the switch on the back of the clutch pedal and the cruise now works. I think the green bulb is burnt out though as it doesn't come on when engaged (green "CRUISE" indicator on the dash turns on though).

there you go

as for your codes.. you'll get a load of auto tranny codes until you swap the ECU to a 5spd one

Funny thing is, I have a 5spd ECU (CA-spec, even) however, I'm not putting it in until one of two things happens because I don't want to lose my TS upgrade:

1) I have to start getting tested for emissions
2) I buy an EU

b/c I'm going to Wichita this weekend and it's a 1,600 mile round trip that I wanted my cruise for...until now, the longest I've done is my house to IC and back.
