need some diagnosis opinions...

my car is destined to never start well.... and for the record, it is a 5sp. first i was having the trouble after taking my transmission off with the slow starts, but new ground wires fixed that right up.

now, i get in, put foot on the clutch, turn the key: click. just one click, not a lot of rapid clicks like if the battery was shot. turn key again: click. slam foot down on clutch pedal to the floor a few times, turn the key back and forth, car will eventually start like there is no problem.

this happened yesterday after leaving work but after 1 turn of the key the car started. i wasn't even sure it was a problem, i just thought the pedal wasn't down all the way. this morning it took a few beatings of the pedal and a few turns of the key before it would start. needless to say, i haven't had any time to get into the car to do some diagnosis work.

i am thinking either the clutch pedal safety switch, or the ignition switch. am i right to start looking there? do you think the starter could just be bad? car has 125k miles on it. any other thoughts? every other thread on here about a car starting badly that i've found has to do with the ground wire problem, so they're no help anymore. thanks guys
